Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity hops and dark/bready/light roast malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, floral, grass, and toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, roast, herbal, floral, grass, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops and dark/bready/light roast malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly chalky/resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.4%. Overall this is a delicious red IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops and dark/bready/light roast malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Nicely juicy fruity/citrus hop complexity, balanced crystal/Munich/light roasted malts. Never overly sweet/heavy with adequate dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and great style example.

On tap at Flying Saucer, pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Nose is like strawberry ice cream, bringing out vanilla, strawberry and lactose. Flavour is along the same lines, with light strawberries, along with lactose. Very ice cream-like. Not an elegant beer, but a fun one no doubt.

Tap at the Davis Graduate. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Spicy chocolate aroma. Med+ body. Flavor is spicy chocolate- seems chili- but there’s no capsaicin. Might be earthy cacao. Not at all nutty for me. One of the better browns I’ve had recently.

Draft pour at the Hop and Hound. A near black, thick pour. Active tan fizz head. Chocolate powder, soft metallic nose. Flavor is a ton of chocolate. Really trying to pick out the strawberry, but it's really well hidden in here. A powdery chocolate like late mouthfeel. A clear sweet side to it. Tasty beer overall. File this under my beers to pair with ice cream category.

On tap. Pours a pitch black color with a huge nitro white head. A big chocolate nose. Huge sweet chocolate, ashy, toast. Very good.

Black pour with a beige head. Full bodied. Loads of sweet chocolate, some molasses, muted but noticeable strawberry notes. Was expecting a stronger berry profile. Solid.

Draft. A- Berries, chocolate. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Milk chocolate, strawberry, cherry. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Really nice. Like a Russell Stover chocolate. I would say it comes off more as cherry than strawberry, but either ways its very drinkable.

Draught. Black pour with off white head. Strawberry and chocolate aroma. Strawberry in the flavour with chocolate and malt. Sweet finish. A dessert beer.

This pours from 22oz bottle(bottled July 1 as per small stamp near base of the bottle) a clear gold with a healthy head of foam that shrinks fairly quickly....some spotting in the middle and some lacing hugging the side of my glass.

The smell has some hoppy and sweet notes along with some bread and some fruit. Nice nose.

The taste on first sip and I get some good caramel malt and bread followed by some grain and a mild hop character. Tasty. After a few more sips, there's more hoppiness in the flavour but it's balanced nicely by the malt and it really works well for me. I don't have to have a hop bomb in every IPA that I drink!! ;^)

The mouthfeel is medium, the carbo is medium, and it finishes slightly sweet. Good stuff and it's going to be no problem at all finishing the bomber. I recommend it!

The smell is quite hoppy with lemony notes,

The taste is very hoppy with strong citrus tones that make for a very bitter attack on my palate but that's not a complaint from me. ;^) Solid APA.

Bottom line: Here's a very flavourful APA that only tips the scales at 4.85%abv thus making it a good candidate for a session beer. I recommend it.
