The malt of an English IPA with the hops of an American IPA. Biscuit and caramel combine with loads of pine needles. Full bodied but a bit one dimensional.

GABS Auckland 2018. Pours brown. Biscuit, bit of toffee, something a bit weird, maybe the spring onion. Over carbonated. Just a mediocre brown ale without much hint of the additions.

On tap at St Johns Craft Beer Bar, Launceston. Murky brown beer with thin film on top. Light fine carbonation. Faint aroma of chillies and farmyard. Zingy mouthfeel with smoky BBQ notes followed by green chillies. Finish has a late ginger-like bite in the throat which is quite ’adult’ and invigorating. Interesting but one is enough.

Pint on tap at Basement Brewhouse, Bankstown. Pale brown beer with thin white head. Carbonation is low and slow. Light body, slight fizz. Nice malt profile which becomes sweeter in the finish. Let it warm a bit and it becomes more balanced with hop notes. Nice bitter.

Had this on tap at the Bruny Island cheese factory of all places. Hazy tan. Thin head. Nice duponty aroma. Similar palate but the yeast is more heavy-handed. Still, nice peppery character, subtle fruitiness and thick malts. Nice.

As Best Bitter. Draught @ Saint John. Hazy light tan. Has a light fruitiness, not much bitterness, and has a refreshing character. A little subtle, might benefit from a handpump.
