Zevenstar bier in Nieuwegein wordt gebrouwen op initiatief van het Zevenstar Bier collectief In 2013 ontstond het idee om voor Nieuwegein een eigen bier te brouwen. Door het organiseren van een bier brouw wedstrijd voor de thuisbrouwers van Nieuwegein is dit gelukt. Aan de hand van een recept van de winnende deelnemer hebben wij vanaf 2014 Zevenstar Bier. Jaarlijks wordt één wedstrijd uitgeschreven waaraan de thuisbrouwers kunnen deelnemen. Zo hebben wij nu 3 verschillende Zevenstar bieren.

De thuisbrouwers hebben zich intussen georganiseerd in het Zevenstar Bier Brouwers Gilde. De commerciële bieren worden gebrouwen met behulp van de brouwfaciliteiten en de hulp van de brouwers van de Sallandse Landbier Brouwerij in Albergen.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB Febr 2018, 33 cl sample. Slight hazy golden to amber color, short frothy head. Aroma of some cookie, bit herbal tea and some butterscotch. Soft bitterness, caramelly malt, butterscotch. Some weird flavor I recognize, but cant tell from what. Maybe a bit english bitter like, so slightly oxidized. Not really good, guess the previous ratings come from some British nostalgia from before the brexit :-P

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ W. van Schaik, Vianen. Clear dark amber with an off-white head. Malty aroma with some rich sweetness and some hops. Taste is bittersweet. Very nice amber.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB April 2018, 33 cl sample. Hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of grainy malt, wheat and hay, bit spicy and yeasty. Slight bitterness in taste, grainy, hay. Bit sirupy texture. No added value at all.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ W. van Schaik. Very dark amber with a thin off-white head. Malty caramel aroma with considerable hop presence. Taste is medium bitter and.... and then my glass fell on the ground.... after one, rather enjoyable, sip. Nice doppelbock though, will buy again.

Bottle shared with Deanso. Cloudy orange brown with an off white head. Aroma of massive plastercine yeast, caramel, light butterscotch, malt, herbs and spice. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle at Luden, Utrecht. Clear amber with an off white head. Aroma is completely unexpected, massive fudge and chocolate sweets. There’s no normal amber beer things going on here, this is weird and different in the best possible way. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Lovely!

Bottle from Mitta Bunnik, BB Sept 2017, large sample. Clear amber to copper color, short frothy head. Aeoma is spicy, cinnamon, nutmeg, bit autumn leaves, toffee. Quite spicy in taste, dry of spices, soft bitterness. Belgian double styled bock.
