Finishes medicinal/cardboard. it’s a shame they stopped brewing but still put out beer near their closing.

September 2009 Beer of the Month Club , 11/8/09

Aroma: Smells of mostly yeasty malts and some earth like notes
Appearance: A clear dark orange color with a fizzy off-white head (mild retention)
Flavor: Somewhat balanced flavor, leaning more toward the malty side
Palate: It has a nice mouthfeel, medium dryness, mildly thin and highly smooth
Overall Impression: This makes for a decent beer, nothing super exciting, but it hits the mark for a drinkable and simple session brew. If you are looking for something with a lot of complexity, this is not the right beer, but what it is trying to be it does a pretty solid job.

This one came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma was tangy, bitter and toasty with a faint undertone of vanilla. The flavor was bitter, roasty, dry and gritty with a hint of malted milk. Rather one dimensional. Medium length finish, medium body. Ok.
