Sample at ABC Tavern for the CBW Collaboration Kickoff on 10/18/2013. Pours a clear dark reddish-amber color with a thin white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of cherries and yeast. Full-bodied and slightly syrupy with flavors of mildly tart cherries, yeast and malt. The finish is semi-sweet with a slightly medicinal cherry aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle - black pour with a creamy tan head. Roasted sweet malts, caramel, dark chocolate, slight coffee, toffee, with some fruity notes throughout, slight bitter roasted finish. Good stuff.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours an opaque black with a small, creamy beige head leaving some lacework. A little licorice and roast in the aroma. Medium body, roast and cocoa powder with some warming alcohol. Not overly sophisticated yet still very nice. 130913

From a bomber. On sale at vintage, nice place. Beauty of a pour into a big glass mug. Now I know my mug holds 22 oz, heheh. First taste is a little strong, just almost over the top but not quite. Yes, not sure if it borders on the Baltic porter side but I’m leaning there. From my experiences with macro porters, this is stronger. I want to almost say its bordering on impy stout or impy porter territory. Roasty aroma becomes nearly volatile after a while. Could have a few more manners. Getting dizzy near the end of the bottle. Tho alky is almost seven % is not as intrusive as the number indicates. I swear I detect a slight sense of tartness in there....saves it. Finish is not as medicinal as I thot it would be. Yes, decent porter finish.

22 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but was released recently. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of pear, apple, orange rind, milk chocolate, cocoa, light roast, toast, caramel, and yeast earthiness. Nice and interesting aromas with good balance of roasted malt and fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, pear, apple, toast, roasted malt, caramel, and toasted earthiness. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, light fruits, toast, caramel, roasted malt, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of roasted malt flavors with moderate fruitiness; with good complexity, robustness, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good and unique Foreign stout style. Good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with moderate fruitiness; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing lings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, peach, honey, caramel, floral, grass, pine, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop and malt notes; and good strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, lemon zest, tangerine, orange rind, pine, floral, grass, caramel, honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, honey, caramel, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of citrus and pine hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, crisp, and sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice IPA! All around good balance and complexity of hop and malt notes; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours fairly crystal clear orange amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy cream colored head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance of hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, floral, grass, lemon zest, pine, caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance and minimal cloying bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly slick and very sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice DIPA. All around nice balance of hop and malt notes; and quite smooth to sip on. No complaints, a very enjoyable offering.
