Sample at the Big Tap In on 04/20/2013. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and grain. Medium to full body with flavors of grainy malt, coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the Big Tap In on 04/20/2013. Brownish-black pour with a medium khaki head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied with flavors of roast coffee, malt and slight fruity hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee and subtle fruit aftertaste. Interesting concept and a decent beer.

From the April 2013 3R6P beer tasting. +++ Sampled from a growler this beer poured a bright yellow color with a small soapy white head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was slightly must and skunky with a tart citrus presence. The flavor was dry, tart and very perfumey with a hint of skunk and a light citric note. Medium length tart perfume and citrus finish. Light body. Not good.

Hazy gold beer, little white head. Palate is light and crisp. Minerals. Mild orange, a little cream in the malt. The Paw Paw is subtle but definitely there. Crisp finish. Not bad but of you going to call your beer after a fruit then why not showcase the fruit rather than apologise for it?

Bomber courtesy of Secret Santa jmikolich. Thanks! Pours a mostly clear amber color with a medium sized creamy slightly-offwhite head. Decent head retention. Aroma of citrus, candied citrus, earthy and piney hops with a solid caramel maltiness. The taste is earthy, piney hops, a bit of a tropical note, mango and melon particularly, and pale caramel malts. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness, just the faintest hint of booze. Nice beer.

Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and hops in the nose. Medium body with a roasty malt character with some grassy hops and chocolate behind it. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine. This beer is a slightly murky orange color with a medium foamy white head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt and ginger. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, bitter spices and fruit. The finish is sweet honey and malt up front and leaves a slightly astringent spice aftertaste. Decent overall.

This brew pours a clear pale straw color with a medium fluffy white head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malt and yeast along with a touch of spice. Light to medium body with flavors of peppery yeast, malt and a bit of banana. The finish is sweet with a short yeast aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

This brew pours a clear orange color with a medium thick and fluffy white head that evaporates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Sweet aroma of cinnamon, pumpkin spices and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of nutmeg, pumpkin, ginger and biscuit malt. Hint of hops in the background. The finish is sweetly spiced with a short pumpkin aftertaste. Decent overall.

22 oz bottle purchased at Bella Vino in Athens, Ohio. The pour is a lightly hazed orange golden, with a smallish off white head. The aroma is lightly sweet fruit (sort of a mix between grape, pear and maybe a hint of tropical fruit?), a touch of phenol, and a bit of fruit skin earthiness. The taste is light cracker malt, the fruit sweetness, soft and naturally sweet, and a bit of the yeast and phenol in the back. The fruit in the taste is similar to the nose, a natural grape, pear tropiacl fruit sweetness. It’s interesting, and quite unique. The palate is medium to light bodied, a lower soft carbonation level, and the yeasty sweet aftertaste. Interesting beer for certain. I have never tasted PawPaw fruit, and I think my understanding of this beer would improve if I had.
