Description
Popularized in myth for slaying a fire-breathing dragon, St. George was a 3rd century Roman soldier who stood up for good over evil and was put to death.
The St. George Brewing Company is located in Hampton, VA. It has been in operation since 1998, making us one of the oldest microbreweries in the Hampton Roads area. Our brews are geared toward traditional English and German style ales though occasionally we branch out. We have a tap room that offers 9-12 taps of our rotating beers during our business hours.
The various legends surrounding his death inspired the crusading kings of 12th century England. Today, St George is known as the patron saint of chivalry as well as the patron saint of England.
We have tapped that same inspiration to create award winning ales and lagers that proudly bear the cross of St George.

Strawberry, floral, potpourri nose. Clear amber, medium head. Perfumey violets and baby powder flavorful. Powdery mouthfeel. Iβve had this at various times with little floral character and more of a noble hop note, more pilsnery although it is an ale. Itβs better without the floral bouquet.

Pours clear dark brown with a tall. sticky, light tan head. Very soft malt aroma. Lightly sweet with some roast malts, but a lot less than what a good porter should have in my opinion. More like a Schwarzbier.

Hazy, dark gold. Slightly hoppy, yet smooth. Goes down real easy; a good choice for a session beer.

Bottle pour into shaker. Typical nut brown color for a brown ale. The taste was not as typical with a nice hoppiness added to the nuttiness. A decent beer.
