Flesje op terras bij de Volmolen in Waalre. Oranjegeel bier met mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is bitter hoppig, kruidig en duidelijk niet zoet met een goed mondgevoel.Smaakt iets anders als de meeste tripels maar ik vond deze best wel ok.

33cl bottle. A clear dark golden beer with a off-white head. Aroma of old resionous dull hops. Taste of resinous hops, mild red malt, raisins. Long bitter finish. Weird stuff!

Flesje thuis gedronken. Licht troebel goudgeel bier met een witte schuimkraag welke snel weg ebt. Aroma is grassig en gistachtig. De smaak is fruitig (sinaasappel) en kruidig (koriander). Weinig nasmaak.

The weather is really too warm for an imperial stout but I’ve had this 33 cl bottle from Belgian Happiness for some time. Tilting into a snifter the body is a dark brown with a small amount of very fine, taupe foam. Nicely charged up, I see. The nose is roasty, chocolate and grain. I take a drink and determine early it is not really what I prefer in the style. Charcoal, dark malt, some rye effect, black licorice and grain. And so we learn.

One of a number of quadrupels obtained through a courteous Belgian retailer, I have a new brew from a new brewer to try. I open the 33 cl bottle (best by 10/2023 it says on the cap) and tilt into my Straffe Hendrik tulip glass. The liquid is a rich, cola brown topped by a lingering skim of tan foam. I lift the glass for the scent and get ripe fruit, bread and field. A drink gives me raisins, figs, cherries, multi grain bread, malt and a slight vinous essence. A thick sensation accompanies a slight sweetness and a small finishing bitterness. A good quad.
