Also great. The whiskey is very subtle yet makes this a very unique gueuze.

375ml bottle, believed to be 1986. Cork split in 2 but was retrieved intact. Opened with a pop! To celebrate/commiserate the life of Ratebeer. It pours crystal clear copper with a small, bubbly white head (sediment left in bottle). The aroma is musty, gooseberry, white grape, lemon - lime, mouldy citrus, melon, damp wood, deep funk, barnyard, damp basement vibes, dunnage warehouse, discarded apple core, kitty litter, faintly medicinal and earth. The taste is firmly dry initially, oily, slick, nice puckering sourness, sherbet, lemon - lime, tart gooseberry, white currant, must, muted white wine vinegar, dull acidity, dry oak, tannin, clay, touch of leather, earth, funk, barnyard and leather with a drying finale. Medium body, limited carbonation (but not flat) and fairly oily in the mouth. A lovely slice of history. I was worried this would have had artificial sweetener vibes, but it doesn't. Very limited oxidation either. Has aged gracefully and is way more enjoyable than expected. Not just got science. The sort of beer I loved to chase in my peak RB days.

Jan 1990 bottle. Crumbly cork, but came out eventually. It pours clear rose/ blush with limited head. The aroma is initially big wet cork, earthy, musty, dusty, medicinal which clears up after a while... soft, sour candy, fruity, sour raspberry, cranberry jam, strawberry and plum. The taste is soft, sweet - sour, juicy, tangy, raspberry jam, plum compote, chalky, minerality, earthy, woody tannin, dull acidity, funk and wet leaves with a jammy raspberry finish. Medium body, light carbonation and soft mouth-feel. Has aged pretty well. Still pretty fruity.

Clearly very old, smells papery and gone. Taste is not completely dead yet, some sourness, lots of wood, nice amount of funk. Unfortunately also some wet cardboard and smth cheesy. Great fun!

15 years old, Café Morshuis, Albergen. What a surprise to see this beer in a village pub in Twente. Orange red color, cloudy with a small head. Not so muddy as the framboise. Very good lacing. Not a very pronounced aroma: some fruit and some citrus. Thinner as the framboise. Cherry flavor with hints of almond and lemon. Eased down sourness, not too sweet. Lacks the complexity of the really sour krieks like Cantillon, but still a wonderful beer in very good condition.

Tap, 15 years old, Café 't Pleintje Hengelo. Orange brown color, cloudy. Raspberry and lemon aroma and flavor. Mushy, dusty and earthy, but still fresh and full of life with a somewhat dirty lasting head. Well rounded sourness and some sweetness. Mushy raspberry finish that lingers on and on and on. A hour after I finished the drink I still tasted raspberries. What a brilliant beer after all these years!!
