Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.
We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.
We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Orange peel, peanut hull nose, not strong. Clear tea colored, medium cream colored head. Quite metallic, pecan, and cardboard flavor, subtle juniper berry accents. Light body. Pretty disappointing, especially since age is not a factor for this seasonal beer sampled in season.

1$ can at JR's clearance rack. Quite brite IPA hops citrus nose. Nearly clear pale with a big head that stays. Citrusy up front on the taste, not much real IPA here. Yea, its hoppy bitter fer sure but not most IPA. More like a stronger APA if you ask me; and I like that. Could use a little more carbonation to make it less boring. In the middle, I'm glad it somewhat has an alky kick to make this IPA session more livable. Yes, I think we just have a spritely APA here. I don't think most manly IPA lovers will appreciate this brew. On the finish, its a little more behaved than most domestic IPA fer sher.

Can, 1$ off JR's clearance rack. Slight haze on a light orange tint pale gold beer. Nose of medium fresh green sticky pine spruce cones. First taste is somewhat fruity but that immediately disappears and a big hop bitterness continues to build. Not as mouth coating or viscous as expected, but it could use a little more co2. A mild warming sensation develops in the middle on the palate and down the throat. Boozy. Fruited tastes remain at the commencement of each swig. At least this makes it a little interesting compared to the diesel flavored impy IPAs I've done in the past. Yes, tho I don't care much for this or most any IPA, the fruity thing that hits the taste buds with each swig, combined with its mind numbing alky content, at least makes it worth while for beer rating tick. However, I would not buy it again; just saying, its more acceptable to most other domestic impy IPA. Almost comes across like a regular IPA.
