Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

Bottle from Yamaya. Getting close to its drink by, so I don’t expect the best. English nose, herbal hops, citrus, spice, tobacco, light caramel malts. Medium amber-orange, cleear, with a low head. Very hopyp flavor, quite bitter, spicy, nice Enlgish hops, some toffee and biscuits. Pretty solid stuff all around and would like to try it absolutely fresh.

Bottle. Has a deep reddish brown to black colour with a light brown head that fades fast. Roasted aroma, coffee beans, dark chocolate, oak, dark berries and some smoke. More roasted malt in the flavor along with ash, dark chocolate, oak and some forest floor. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, medium body and a light to medium bitterness. A nice and roasted beer. I did expect more from the cherries though.

Keg at Brewdog Soho, London. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, dark fruit on the nose. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate and some plum in there. This one reminded me a little of Titanic plum porter. Decent.
