Bottle courtesy of argoO at Dc tasting. Black-brown body, beige head. Big brown chocolate tastes. Mossy chocolate, a load of peat. Very English/Scottish feel. Perfect clean mouthfeel. Rich crystal malt, but oh so sessionable.

Sample at the 5th Annual Coldest Day of the Year Stout Tasting on 01/26/2013: Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Light body with flavors of sweet chocolate, soy sauce and malt. The finish is sweet with a short chocolate malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

Persistent slow gusher and pours with a huge blooming tan head! The beer is black. Smooth palate, a little dry. Smooth dark malt, trace of smoke. Mild lactose. Palate turns frothy towards the end with subtle figgy fruits. Okay but the over frothy gusher palate messes things up a lot.

Hazy deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is slightly thick and a little soft. Good dose of prickly carbonation. Rich malt, slightly dark in character and a little smoky. Mild malt cream and a brief peach note. Dry finish, sweet malt aftertaste. Not bad.

Hazy amber beer, little white head. Light crisp palate, semi dry. Minerals. Carbonated sting. Mild pale malt. forms a frame for nice tangerine - orange hop. Finishes semi dry. Fresh and refreshing.

Bottle: Poured a light black color stout with a large light brown foamy head with average retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of light black chocolate notes with some bitter roasted malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix between medium black chocolate notes with light bitter roasted malt notes with a light touch of coffee in the aftertaste. Body is too light with not enough of a creamy texture but with some very good carbonation. Not bad overall but I would think that a fuller body would improve the drinking experience.

(500mL bottle from the LCBO) Poured very dark brown, nearly opaque, with a very thin whitish head, no lace. Aroma chocolate malts, roast, bit of coffee, vanilla, bit of greenness from hops. Flavour roast malts, chocolate, some fruity malt sweetness, good dry bitterness from the roast and hops to finish. Mouthfeel medium, fairly slick with soft carbonation. Well-crafted porter, not eye-popping but satisfying.

Hazy amber beer, small white head. Crisp palate with a carbonated sting. Strong pale malt, with a mild raw taste. Orange hops bring the malt to heel and provide marmalade and a good bitter kick. Some fresh orange as well. Subtle dried fruits underneath, tangy. Crisp finish. Decent but needs more hop to be a top notch pale ale.

Pours pitch black with creamy head and some lacing. Roasted malt, cacao and nut in the aroma. Creamy consistency and medium carbonation. Some musk as well. Light bitterness. Very good. Bottle.
