Bottle. A great looker beer. Amber colored with a big white head. Smell is of grapefruit (and slightly skunked - it's in a brown bottle). The beer has an IPA bitterness, but the flavor is more spicey/bready/and some hops. It isn't quit7e right for the beer. Otherwise, finishes dry and a little acidic.

Paid $1.79 for a 12-oz single. BLACK as night, head fluffy, brown, and HUGE. Smells wicked: deep and dark. Coffee and chocolates. Am I ready for this? Yes, I am always ready. HUGE and THICK as hell. Unbelievable. Coffee, chocolate and liquor. Tastes like a dark chocolate cordial. Nearly mindblowing (but not quite). WOW. Under $2 for this great of a brew. Not for the faint of heart (or mouth).

Cloudy. Has some dirty diaper aroma, but also hints of pale malt. Tastes watery, empty. Like spent grain instead of malt, and mere shades of hops. Surprising to me, because North Coast beers are usually quite good.

Midnight black with a creamy mocha colored head that is held back by the alcohol content of this beer. Nice coffee, chocolate, and malt aromas, with a sweet, toasty, palate. It hides it's alcohol very well until you quit sippin' and try to stand up. Very well crafted and satisfying Imp Stout.

Paid $1.19 for a 12-oz single. Dark brown, not black, big, fluffy head. Sweet & rich choclate in the nose. Coffee, slight orange, burnt toast, chocolate... all mixed together to make up the taste. Nice and refreshing. A bit thin in the mouth- my only complaint about this brew.

Paid $1.29 for a 12-oz single. Nice light golden yellow, decent head, but shrinks quickly. Nice, slightly sweet wheaty grass scent. Nice, flavorful mouthful of beer. Slightly grassy, this beer finishes with a nice, bitter dryness. Very nice tingly mouthfeel. This would make a good session beer if you enjoy pilsners. Not my favorite style, but this beer definitely makes for an enjoyable session.

$2.09 for a 12-oz single. GREAT appearance. Light orange with a nice head. Slightly cloudy. Either the subconscious is working its wonders right now with the color, but I swear I smell some pumpkin in there. Slightly pear in flavor- lots of bitterness in the finish. Doesn't completely do the trick for me- but not bad. This is a drinkable beer- but not really one that's for me. I definitely see how others will enjoy the hell out of it, though!

2003 bottle. Light belgian style aroma, moderate yeastiness at best, but good banana and clove. Pours a light gold with some deeper amber-honey hues. Huge bright, off-white head. Started at about 53 degrees and it was wonderful. Light citrusy/phenolic taste. Bubbly and lightly sharp/sour. Big honey-lemon flavor with some nice, albeit light malt flavor. Quite flavorful. I put it down for a bit and came back, unfortunately, now at about 57-59 degrees, it had completely flattened but did not ring in the delicate complexity that real belgians do when they have settled. Muddled and too sweet now. Hmmm, will try again but I'm pretty sure it will be the same thing.

2003 bottle drunk Jan ’04. Very nice rich grainy hops aroma, slightly nutty, slightly yeasty. Very interesting. Amber color, mostly clear, big light beige head. Flavor is equally as unique, some light caramels you might expect from an amber ale. medium-dry, lightly bitter hops of an APA, but an interesting spicy almost lagered flavor as well. Medium to full body, great balance, good complexity, great all around drinkable beer, and quite original. Very pleasantly surprised. 8/4/8/5/17
Draught pint at Redbones, 9/18/2006.
Rather fruity (esters) and with a lower degree of attenuation than I remember. It wasnt overly sweet, but just rather blasé and simple. Hops were very unassertive and the beer did not seem crisp. Draught carbonation just came off as gassy and unegaging. 6/3/7/3/13

Roasty and chocolaty in both aroma and flavor, with a robust, smooth presence. Coffee and choclate with a subdued roast barley flavor that make this very drinkable.
