Aloha. That’s how most conversations begin here. It’s also how many of them end. But “Aloha” doesn’t just mean hello and goodbye and love and welcome. It means more than a word can express. It’s a feeling. A way of life. “Aloha” is the idea that we are all connected to everyone and everything around us and that true joy is found in respecting this connection. And it’s in this aloha spirit that the Kona Brewing Company was founded back in 1994 by Cameron Healy and his son Spoon Khalsa. They combined their love of Hawaii and its pristine, natural beauty with their fondness for delicious, local brews, and lucky for us, their dream lives on more than 20 years later.

355ml bottle from Base Camp. Surprisingly hazy golden body, off-white head. Some caramelly, floral, bit herbal and yeasty in the aroma. Fairly clean, dry taste, even bit too dry, grainy, floral, mildly herbal, lightly yeasty by the finish. Not much bitterness. Pretty classic, decent, but completely out of place in the Czech market.

Aromas are generic golden ale, bread dough, with a little honey and spice. Flavors are similar to nose, bittersweet up front with a slightly sweet finish. Okay body and crisp carbonation. Drinkable but not memorable.

Draught, pint. @The Wolfe, New York (NY). 31/08/2024 [#7.705 Global - #1.556 United States of America - #1 Kona Brewing Company (My Brewery #352 from the States)] Pours unclear golden with a rocky white head. Aroma: nectarine, clove, citrus and crackers. Taste: soft tropical fruits, spiced malts and nectarine. Easy drinking. Next one, please!

Bière dégustée au Big Bro à Aix-en-Provence. Vendue comme une golden ale houblonnée aux notes de fruits tropicaux, mais la promesse n'est pas tenue. Robe blonde classique, mousse éphémère. Nez quasi inexistant, difficile de distinguer le moindre arôme. En bouche, c’est plat et sans relief, aucune richesse, ni fraîcheur. Décevante.
