Description
We are an artisan brewery located 30 miles northeast of San Francisco in Concord, CA. Our brewery lies at the confluence of the mighty Sacramento river and majestic Mt. Diablo. Our name comes from the Black Diamond (coal) Mines, 8 miles east of the brewery. Here in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, nearly 4 million tons of “black diamonds” were removed from the local hills.

Draft - Raisin and plum. Deep ruby with a decent light brown head. Raisin, prune and a touch of tartness. Sweet and very fruity, more like a dubbel. Not bad.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe for Big Wood 2015, pours a deep dark near-black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out raisins, caramels and bready notes. Flavour is massive, with loads of raisins and booze. Not very complex at all, but it's acceptable. Needs some maturation. Okay.

From Pivoteka, shared with Mario, thanks! Unsure of the vintage - 75% "ale with fruit with vanilla beans added, 25% ale aged in bourbon barrels." Shiny ruby-brown body with a tiny off white head. Aroma - raisins and vague bourbon. Taste... raisins, fruity in general, vague tartness, light coffee, far from excessively sour, mild puckering. Slightly dry finish, notes of grapes. Actually a very nice beer, without being a thriller.

On tap at Artistic Table. It pours a dark brown color with a khaki head. The aroma is dry with dark chocolate and lots of roast. A little ash. The flavor is the same. Dry and roasted with hints of coffee and ash in the finish. Good medium body. A solid Schwarz.

On tap at Artistic Table. It pours a very clear straw yellow color with a big white head. The aroma is a little floral and citrusy with some orange and lemon. The flavor is the same. Orange with a little floral lemongrass and lightly sweet pale maltiness and solid floral/earthy bitterness. Full bodied. Good flavor but not quite dry and snappy enough. No off flavors.

Bottle poured and split. Pours a near black with a tan ring head. Big vanilla bean aroma. Rich malt, cinnamon, chocolate, and vanilla. Like German chocolate cake. A little coconut. Tasty porter for sure.

0.65 bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Dark copper, clear with small off white head. Dry figs and raisins, some herbal hops. Very fruity character. Hoppy start, but very spicy fruity character develops, sweet cake like finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. A classic example of style.

Bottled 355ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb, shared with Marko. Darker golden coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, dust and fruits in the nose. Sweetish malty, some herbs, light fruity hoppy and again notes of dust and spices in the finish. Nothing special here, stays just on paper and not in my memory.
