12 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy dark amber brown with a small beige head. Nose brings out plenty of spicy rye whiskey, caramel, and muffled bready malt. Flavour is robust, with lots of rye whiskey barrels, caramel, bready malt, and murky earthiness. Nice malt character, with good barrel treatment, but it's a bit rough and muffled. Pleasant but not a superior product.

12 oz. bottle at Matanuska - Anchorage, pours a deep dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma has a nice bourbon barrel character, with soft vanillin, light oak, and some bready malt. Flavour is largely a function of bourbon and vanillin, with plenty of oak and soft bready malt. Soft mouthfeel that improves as the beer warms. Could use a heavier base to support the bourbon character but this is nicer done.

On tap at Matanuska - Anchorage, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out bright citrus juice and citrus peel. Flavour is very citrusy without being bitter at all: there's citrus sweetness, some peel, and maybe a hint of rind. No notice of the booze; finishes semi-sweet. It's alright.

On tap at Matanuska - Anchorage, pours a hazy dark amber orange with a medium pink-tinged head. Aroma brings out plenty of blueberries and some soft wheat. Flavour is sweet and fruity, with plenty of blueberry juice and moderate sweetness. It's not very beery, but like alcoholic blueberry juice. Fun I guess.

On tap at Matanuska - Anchorage, pours a hazy bright golden orange with a small white head. Aroma has Belgian yeast (some esters), candi sugar, citrus hops, and some bright orange peel. Flavour is sweet and boozy, with lots of resinous hops, candi sugar, Belgian yeast esters, and light orange peel. Surprisingly well-integrated and forceful. Nothing amazing or elegant but it's well-constructed for something like this.

On tap at Matanuska - Anchorage, pours jet black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out earthy, toasted malt, and a touch of very dry cocoa lover. Flavour is quite robust, with lots of deep roasted malt upfront, a touch of cocoa, and some gentle earthiness. Full-bodied and rich for the style. Nicely done.

On tap at Matanuska - Anchorage, pours a clear copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle bready malt and a hint of toffee. Flavour is malty and sweet, with an almost syrupy character to the malt, along with toffee and bready malt. Needs to be a little drier but it's not bad.

Flavour is malty, with plenty of resinous hops, pine, and bready toffee. A little too malty even for the style but competently brewed and reasonably balanced. Good.
