Can from Steve. Deeply hazy iced-tea brown, nice sparkle, thick head with excellent retention and tons of soapy lacing. Aroma is pine dominant, floral, apricot, malts. Taste is strong pine and malts, late apricot. Smooth texture, average carbonation, finish as taste. Initial alcohol presence but vanishes after very little warming. Good strength of a conventional TIPA. Not my favorite taste profile but well made.

A one pint can purchased at the Total Wine on Hulen St. in Fort Worth. I don’t see an imperial amber ale often so I’ve been anticipating this tasting. I have the Cowtown tulip glass in place for a pour and that is what I do. The body is dark cardinal red completed by a tall head of creamy parchment tan foam. I smell plenty of grain and a small bit of hops. The taste is more substantial, I get toasted bread, some cedar pine, a touch of caramel sweetness, cardboard and a nice little bitterness concluding. The lacing has to be pointed out, best I’ve encountered in some time. As good as I hoped for and that doesn’t happen frequently.

The wife and the son and I went by Pouring Glory in near-south Ft. Worth and I had a snifter of A Lost Epic from the tap. Moderately dark clear gold with a healthy top of almost white foam. Decent taste of yellow fruit, a touch of spices, some floweriness and hops. It always pleases me when a USA brewery makes the effort at a Belgian beer.

On tap at Grrrowlers while on a Marzen streak. Clear, dark amber, light froth. Soft honey floral nose, very subtle. Delicate malt & mild orange note. Airy, mellow astringency, bit of an apple filling, weak spice, dryness sets in. Kinda good.
