Bottle (four years after BBE date). Pours dark reddish brown with small offwhite head. Aroma is malt, caramel, black berry wine gums, blackcurrant jam and hints of bog-myrtle. Taste is medium to very sweet, light bitter and light to medium sour. Body is oily with soft carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of malt, caramel, blackcurrant jam, black berry wine gums, bog-myrtle and port wine. It is somewhat unpleasantly sour and almost synthetically fruity, but this is likely due to the age, so I aimed to an average rating.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Sophisticated and refined perfumy nose. Rich, sweet - very sweet - body with noble rot and again an almost perfumy note. Warming alcohol in the finish. The cloying sweetness makes it hard to drink which is a pity since it's a damn fine beer in many ways. 050723

Bottle (almost 5 years after BBE date). Pours clear golden with huge white foamy head. Aroma is malt, grain, lemon, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is medium to very sweet, light to medium bitter and light acidic. Body is oily with sparkling carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of malt, caramel, syrup, brown sugar, lemon, elderflower lemonade and chalk. Actually pretty good despite (or perhaps because of?) the age.
