my 2020 advent box had a qaudrupel as #1 instead of the barley wine that was there last year. clear dark amber smooth light brown head. Super weak/mild aroma, hardly anything noticable, i get some dark dried fruits primarily. not really any hops or belgian yeast. Aroma is nice enough, but just super way way weak. flavor is lots of dried fruits, figs, plums, sweet malts, not that much of the wilder part of belgian yeasty notes if any, but a lot of the flavors you would find in a quad. sweet dried fruity thing. Just below the flavor i sense a lot of alcohol, but it never gets alcohol bitter or overly boozy. but it's close.. Fairly decent belgian'ish beer. beware of the 10%, this might go down so easy you forget how much you had. mouthfeel is quite thick, but also quite soapy so i'll put it down for an average 3 cause the good and the bad sort of cancels out.

This may or may not be a seperate beer from their 1. Årgang. Large bottle in a box with a glass. 3. udgave 10% acc. to front label En maltfyldig trippelbock med smag af brun sukker og mørk chokolade Back label re-used from 1.udgave i think, on back label it says en maltfyldig barley wine med smag af brun sukker og mørk chok olade i'm no expert but isn't bock a lager and barley wine an ale ? How can this be both? i already got rid of the box, so can't say if they have put on a third beer style on the box just to keep things entertaining. Slighly hazy orange with a brownish hue, smooth small white head. Aroma reminds me of good homebrew. slight notes of dough, very slight flowery or citrussy or lemongrassy notes. also a fat body mostly dry malts. aroma could easily be that of a well brewed european strong lager. faint nutty notes. quite complex aroma, yet still light. flavor is mild malty, alc. is hidden but there is not much flavor. not sweet, the end reminds me of european strong lager with a slightly herbal tilt but could just as well be industrial european hops bitterness that quite expertly just manages to hide the 10% alc. quite a dry beer, follows the flavor of many årgangsøl in denmark, but i would not guess this being a barley wine, i would guess imperial strong lager. Did i have to chose between barley wine and trippel bock, i woudl go for trippel bock. btw. a real nice glass in the box. That glass would do well with a good barley wine. When i come to think of it, i think i have tasted english barley wines that taste more or less like this one, so flavor wise it might be a very dry barley wine. considering the size of the bottle and the glass, it's a sure-fire way to get drunk with style while watching something entertaining on netflix.

bottle when opened 1/8th of the bottle came out by itself. not funny. hazy brown nearly no head. aroma is faint herbal, faint malty. flavor is roasted malty, slightly herbal, quite dry. pretty tasty, the bitterness resembles pilsener bitterness and strangely it suits the malt flavor quite well. Quite dry for a bock, but refreshing nevertheless.

bottle from 2020 advent box. (i felt like coffe stout) Clear brown (far from pitch black) smooth light brown head. Mild but really well rounded and nice aroma of coffee, chocolate, malts, sort of like the aroma of a cappuchino.also a little licorice. really nice mild sort of milk stout aroma. flavor is roasted malty, coffee, faint very dark chocolate, aftertaste is hard roasted coffee, sweet malts. A pretty decent imperial stout, especially the balance is just right, this bottle is fairly fresh, i think it is best fresh, balance might get a bit more sweetish if the hops went away. Really good brew. Likely the best from braunstein so far. bbf 25.8.2023 batch 565

Draft. A chestnut-brown beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of mlat, caramel, and spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and spices, leading to a dry spicy finish.

Clear amber, large nice looking smooth offwhite to light brown head. Really nice roasted malty aroma, slightly dusty, slightly sweet nutty slightly malty, slightly spicy, but very nicely well rounded. Probably best christmas beer aroma i've tried this year so far. Flavor is very spiced, so much that spices are dominating malts and beer, which is not so nice. the flavor is cinnamon, anise, nelliker, somewhere in there probably roasted malts with a nutty note. beer tastes fairly good, but it is way too spice forward, only thing hinting beer is the palate and the looks. perhaps if they did the spices in a belgian style beer where the beer added raisins and dried dark fruits, it would work better.

bottle. Very carbonated, opened with a pop almost like champaigne, poured with a giant head - but did not spill over or anything. Shaking this bottle bf opening is probably not a good idea. When i try to pour some, it does spill over from the bottle a bit. lively shit... clear brown, gigantic fluffy soapy offwhite head. aroma is very dusty, and dry nutty or dry roasted malty. flavor is roasted malty with that citrussy note you often find in alc. freee beer, as well as what might be a hint of sour clementine on top of that. i cannot rule out some kind of infection here, but if there is one, it is one of those that tastes so weird you think it's part of the flavor profile of the beer. besides the not-at-all-sweet very dry roasted malty flavor i also get something somewhat weird, like, perhaps, burnt plastic. or maybe just a burnt painted cedar wood cigar case. you can get used to the flavor, i have had better dark alc.free beers, but this is not the worst.
