Draft at brewpub. Clear golden pour with a small silky off-white head. Malty aroma with some sweet notes. Taste is sweet, bready and not much of a hop presence. Quaffable, but reminds me more of a golden ale. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pale Ale on 05 Sep 2021 at 20:43 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Draft at brewpub. According to the menu, this is an updated recipe @5.4%, and looks nothing like the descriptions from Buckeyeboy and Indiana Red. Clear golden pour with a small silky off-white head. Malty aroma with some sweet notes. Taste is sweet, bready and not much of a hop presence. Quaffable, but reminds me more of a golden ale.

Draft at White Dog. Golden pour, clear as day, small, persistent creamy head. Faint malty aroma, dusty. Taste brings a weak hit of citrus before turning over to a full hoppy taste that really doesn't go anywhere. What a let down. --- Beer merged from original tick of West Coast IPA on 05 Sep 2021 at 20:12 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5.5. On tap at the Boise BP clear reddish amber pour, thick foamy tan head. Light sweet woody and nutty. Hazelnuts maybe, and a little vanilla. Clean finish.

Draft at Good Apple. Clear golden, scant head. Aroma seems to have a trace of honey, as does the taste. Sweet, but in an odd way. Not like any other Mexican lager I've tried.

Crowler from brewery. Medium clear amber, small fizzy head. Dry malty aroma, woody, nutty. Taste is more of the toasty malts, light tobacco. Nothing fancy, on target for the style.

On Tap at the Boise brewery/taproom Very dark, nearly black. Thin traces of tan wispy bubbles. NIce toasted malty dark fruity Belgian yeast combo. Caramel and brown sugar. Flavor is a bit drier and sharp. Some sourness and a clean malty bite. A little dark cider and more light carmelized sugars. Quite clean soft finish for such a big beer.

12 oz can, thanks wife! Aroma is chocolate, caramel, dark bread. Pours hazy dark brown with red highlights and a one finger beige head that falls into a ring pretty quickly. Taste is moderately sweet with some light herbal hop bitterness balancing it out. Pretty tasty.

Draft at brewery. Dark, cloudy amber, spotty head. Aroma is heavy on the oak and wine. Taste is sweet, tart, wine flavors, fruity. Normal saison notes covered by the heavy- handed barrel aging. Strong, puckering. Recalls a Flanders red.

Draft at brewery. Almost black, patchy beige head. Aroma is pure roadt malts. Taste brings a touch of sweetness while still offering a heap of roasty bitterness.
