Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a deep brown sort of color with a thin off white foamy head. Lace seemed to just slide on into the beer.
The aroma had some nuttiness with some milk chocolate tones. Mild dark fruit.
The flavor yielded to the sweetness of the previously mentioned aromas. Dark fruit and milk chocolate flow into the aftertaste and finish.
The feel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under. Good carbonation. ABV felt right.
Overall, pretty good stout leaning towards the English style. I could have again.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a deep brown color with an off white foamy head that held for a good minute and slowly fell off at a moderate pace. Some messy lace.
The aroma had some semi-sweet chocolate malt up front with a light touch of smoke and then some nuts in the background. Light grassy hops at the very end.
The flavor leans towards the roasty side with some nutty sweetness. Decent nutty roasty to sweet aftertaste. No finish.
On the palate, this one sat between a light and medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Good carbonation. Roast accompanies the sweet fairly nice, rigid to smooth rides along my tongue, mostly balanced.
Overall, nicely done brown ale leaning towards the English style.

Tap at brewery. Cloudy golden color. Some sticky lacing. Dry bitter beer. Genetic American hoppiness clean malt profile. Meh for me.

Sampler at brewery. Haven’t been here for years but it hasn’t changed much. Light mineral porter with a mild toffee flavor. Chocolate most pronounced at end of flavor with an unsweetened cocoa finish. A little soot like flavor at the end. Light malt sweetness in the aftertaste. Mineral and carbonated sprinkles feel throughout. Brown color, amber at the edges.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7
Location: Draft at the brewpub, 10/22/14
Aroma: It has a clean malt aroma, some caramel, grainy notes, and a little grass
Appearance: Pours a glowing reddish-orange with a thick, a lasting off-white head, and plus lace
Flavor: The flavor is a little sweet, clean and malty, with a nice, balancing, light bitterness
Palate: It has a light-medium body, easy drinking, with a clean feel, and a lively carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty nice, clean example of the style. The nose is a little thin, but not bad at all. It leans malty, but there’s enough of that grassy German hop flavor to provide some balance. It is pretty clean and easy drinking despite a higher than average carbonation. Not an amazing beer, but at over 7% it is very quaffable.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7
Location: Draft at the brewpub, 10/22/14
Aroma: Spice, malt, and some sweet hints on nose, vegetal notes, with a good bit of smoke
Appearance: This one pours a murky light brown color, with a beige head and some medium lace
Flavor: It has a pretty smoke forward flavor, with spice, and a light, vegetal sweetness
Palate: It has a clean medium body, a soft to average carbonation, and a fairly long duration
Overall Impression: This is an interesting beer. There's some vegetal flavor here, but it isn't particularly pumpkiny. It has a bunch more smoke than I expected. Interesting for sure.

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 10/22/14
Aroma: This one has a smoke aroma, with some meat notes, and some underlying roasted malt
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color, with an orange hue, a beige head, and light lace
Flavor: It has a smoke forward flavor as well, with light roast, as well as a light bitterness
Palate: It has a medium body, average carbonation, and a smokey and semi-dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a pretty tasty and true to style Smoked Porter. It hit on the marks I was looking for. Well done. One of the best offerings from Black Forest that I have tried.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 9/8/14
Aroma: The aroma is sweet malts, Belgian yeast/spice, and some floral, grass, and earthy notes
Appearance: The pour is orange, pretty much clear, with an off-white head and solid lace
Flavor: It is nicely balanced between the sweet malts/corn, spice, and a floral/earthy bitterness
Palate: Drinks rather cleanly and easily, with a nice, creamy feel, and an average carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought this was a really nice idea for a beer. I tend to enjoy the cream ale style/mouthfeel more than most do, and the addition of the Saison spice and hop flavors takes it to another level. Really quite enjoyable. This is the best thing I've had from Black Forest thus far, and an a fairly unique offering, to boot.
