Description
Small Town Brewery is dedicated to crafting gruit-inspired beers. Gruit–German for herbs–describes the ancient practice of bittering ales with roots, spices, flowers, and berries. Tim Kovac, founder and brewmaster of Small Town Brewery, uses a proprietary technique to infuse a specialty blend of herbs and spices into his brewing process to create gruit-inspired beers with the unmistakable taste of nostalgia featuring classic American flavors.

24 ounce can, $2.50.
I bought it because I was curious. You know, Mountain Ale. I get where mountain was chosen.
Can't see through green, no head of foam.
Grapefruit and lemon lime smell. Juicy smell. Oh my.
Ditto for the taste. I hate Mountain Dew so is it any wonder that I don't give this concoction 5s across the board?
5 % abv in this here citrus brew? Malternative of the least likely that I would ever buy again. I will finish the can. Find someone else to buy it from now on. Ain't gonna be me.

Can from on WinCo. Looks like Mountain Dew, taste more like 7 Up. Bright green, flat pour. Lemon lime aroma, sweetish taste with done corn syrup notes. Sticky, cloying.

Bottle. A- Jolly Ranchers, strawberry. A- Pink color, clear liquid, no head. T- Sweet, artificial fruit, strawberry, jolly ranchers. P- Light body, average texture, high carbonation, sweet finish. O- More like jolly rancher infused vodka than beer. I loved the root beer and cream ale but this was pretty bad in terms of intentions. Nothing like Strawberry Rhubarb pie. Strawberry is there but candy like.

Usually good to be rater #10, but .... Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours really hazy key lime color. Aroma is towards Mountain Dew. Near med body. Flavor is pretty close to soda pop, but a bit more Key Lime than Mountain Dew. Far from dry. Not sure where/when it should be ingested. Intriguing in a strange way. Maybe it would be good for marinating chicken.

Stovepipe: Lime and grapefruit nose, hint of lillies. Lime green, fizzy and headless. Sugary sweet lemon-lime, lillies, grapefruit. Light body, easy carbonation. Alcopop and not a good one. Alcoholic hillbillies will eat this cloying stuff up.

Bottle from a variety pack. Thanks, Thomas! Drunk from the bottle, so no appearance score here. Strong vanilla on the nose, with some orange peel, cinnamon, and caramel. Sweet, but surprisingly sharp and spicy. Medium to heavy body, very creamy, with a bit of a grainy, sharp mouthfeel. This is a well done, tasty, and fun beer.

Clear light yellow color with a tiny white head and poor retention. No lacing. Tastes like a super sweet apple pie and crust. Really good but not very beer-like. Alco-pop.

Bottle from Vons, Las Vegas. Pours clear golden, no head. The aroma contains ginger, sugar and spices (mint). It tastes medium to heavy sugary sweet (a bit cloying) and light bitter. Noticeable ginger in the spicy finish. Light body, watery/sticky texture, fizzy carbonation. It’s not terrible and it makes a good quencher on a hot summer’s day, but it has artificial qualities and I’d almost consider it a Cider.
