Description
six°north was established in 2013. The concept was born in Belgium when founder Robert Lindsay fell in love with the country’s beer culture and tradition. He soon returned to north east Scotland to start brewing his own beers, six°north of Brussels. We make modern, artisanal beers that are driven by Belgian brewing tradition and inspired by modern brewing practices.

Our beers are unfiltered and carbonated naturally through secondary fermentation. We brew classic Belgian inspired beers, as well as modern, hop-forward styles. We also release a number of collaboration beers each year with other breweries.

On keg at Six Degrees North, Edinburgh. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - light minerals and hay. Taste - more minerals, soapy bedrock thing and generally a clean note. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - decent pils.

On keg at Six Degrees North, Edinburgh. Appearance - dark brown with a red tinge. Nose - sweet booze and toffee. Not much smoke. Taste - same as nose. Palate - medium to full bodied, rich. Expected peat. Overall - good if a bit booze orientated.

On keg at Six Degrees North, Edinburgh. Appearance - Nose - toffee, pear smoke foe some reason. Taste - whisky, surprisingly smoke and sweet malt. Brown sugar. Palate - rich and full bodied, the booze is a bit much. Overall - interesting.

On keg at Six Degrees North, Edinburgh. Appearance - light orange brown. No head. Nose - fresh toffee and red fruit. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - in the direction of a Flemish red. Good.

Bottle from Tomlinson’s Beer Shop in Inverness. Pours very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate and cola. Moderate sweetness, heavier roasted bitterness. Medium/full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Decent without being exceptional.

Bottle. Arcade Beers, Huddersfield. Hazy, orange gold. Slimmest halo of white. Nose has dessert apple skin. Wheat and damp grain. Sawn wood. A little sweaty and fusty. Light notes of white wine vinegar. Taste has an acidic, baked apple thing, where the sweetness ebbs and flows. Crisp, clean and tartly acidic mouthfeel. Finish is tart, lightly acidic, with a sour apple, wheaty close.

Bottle at Salty Horse. Cheers Nick! It pours darkest brown with a decent beige head. The aroma is soft, dried fruits, berry, juicy, vanilla, nougat, toffee, jam and fruit crumble. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, spicy, wood, leather, fruit cake, berry, whisky, vanilla, berry skin, plum and some warming alcohol with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Nice balance and high drinkability. Delicious!

Decent and refreshing ale.
Hazed golden color with a fine white head. Lovely lacing down the sides of the glass. Looks good and inviting. Decent intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a fine carbonation. Mellow nice sweetness. Citric, wheat, malty, some yeast and herbal flavor.

Decent ok and easy drinkable belgian ale.
Clear pale golden color with a fine white head. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an ok carbonation. Ok balance between acidity and sweetness. Malty, some yeast, some spices, mild citric and mild fruity flavor.
