Description
De Neve was founded in 1792, though the brewery site dates back to 1772. In addition to producing Lambic, Gueuze, and Kriek, De Neve also produced "high fermentation" (top-fermented) ales such as Nèval Kadet, Nèval Speciale, and Rodal Bier. In 1975, the brewery was acquired by Belle-Vue under Constant Vandenstock, which was itself later acquired by Interbrew in 1991. Despite public protests led by nonprofit group Objectieve Bierproevers (OBP), the brewery was closed three years later in 1994. After sitting vacant for over 20 years, the brewery site was sold in 2006, with plans for a loft apartment building complex. The buildings that formerly housed the brewery were recently converted to luxury apartments.

33 cL bottle, seems to be from the late 80’s - tasted in november 2007. Pours deep orange and slight hazy. Has a little head. Aroma is mild grainy and only little barnyard. Flavour holds a little marzipan sweetness and a mild grainyness to the mild barnyard note. Seems slightly marked by the age but delicious .7-3-7-4-15=3.6

25 cL bottle, thanks to BierKönig. Pours golden and clear deep orange with a minimal lacing head. Aroma is wineous and with oxidised notes. Flavour holds a barley like and oxidised note. Mild sweet but still quite unusual for a gueuze.6-3-7-3-13=3.2

Bottled (1995 vintage). Orangeish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is a bit sour apricor with some smooth earthy hints. Flavour is earthy, sour apricot and the palate is dry, but still smooth. A wellaged lambic, which has kept it’s sourness, but went very smooth.

Cloudy orange color, small head. Soft aroma, slightly sweet, fruity. Smooth taste, not very tart, but longlasting and with a very pleasant mouthfeel. Optimal balance i would say.

(Bottle 25 cl) More orange than red, small bubbly head. Dry, tart with only a hint of sweetness. No real cherry-aroma. On a hot summer’s day you find nothing more quenching than a dry kriek. 060795

(Bottle 75 cl) Orangey golden and hazy, the head is pretty much absent. Tart indeed and tarter than the original Belle-Vue but far from the taste bud killers in classical gueuzes. This is just dry and quenching. 180494
