Brewery Martens has been in business for 260 years. Throughout our rich history, which remains embedded in our native town of Bocholt to this very day, the brewery has always remained in hands of the Martens family. Yet, while we put great store by our family history, all eight generations of the Martens family have also continuously been driven by innovation and state-of-the-art processes, which is what has made us into one of the most modern and innovative breweries in the country today.

Big offwhite lasting head. Yellow body with carbonation. Light malty oily papery aroma with rubbery notes. Dryish grainy papery taste. Quite light and delicate palate. Dry corn aftertaste. It’s OK, I guess. (0.5l PET bottle, Aldi Markt, Leipzig.)

Medium offwhite head. Yellow body with carbonation. Thin rubbery grain and corn aroma. Dry-acidic papery rubbery grainy taste with straw notes. Fizzy, oily mouthfeel, kind of full. Surprisingly clean palate. Dry grassy burnt rubber aftertaste. Unpleasant. (0.5l PET bottle, Aldi Markt, Leipzig.)

(plastic bottle) Clear, pale golden colour, mid-sized foamy white head. Discreet aroma: sweet and quite perfumed (bubblegum) malty nose. Light-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a crispy carbonation. Soft malt-character, not annoying, just plain; moderately dry and slightly bitter finish with a faint hoppy touch. Drinkable but also dispensable brew (29.IX.08).

Bottle from Dranken Geers. Clear pale gold, thin white head. Bit of plastic and hop on aroma. It’s a pretty poor blond, some hop, but it hasn’t really got a good aroma, middle goes nowhere and then some citrusy hop on finish.
