Description
David Cole and Peter Erickson are the founders and co-owners of Epic Brewing Company. Cole and Erickson, originally from California, started an international aquaculture company in Utah in 1992. In 2008, Utah law changed allowing these two entrepreneurs to pursue their longtime dream of opening a strong beer microbrewery in Utah, like those they frequented in the Golden State.
Admittedly, beer geeks, foodies, and "Epic" adventure junkies, share a passion for making and drinking fine ales and lagers. The Epic team has a strong belief in doing everything "all out."

ReRate, release #2
Appearance: Pours coal black with a medium sized tan head and some lacing
Aroma: Smokey, roasted malts and yeast
Taste: Roasted malts, grainy, smokey with a bitter hop finish
A nice Imperial Stout, I liked this one much better than release #1
Original 11/23/10 - 22oz bottle picked up at Epic
Appearance: Poured into a Uinta snifter. Very dark brown with a medium sized tan head and some lacing
Aroma: Surprisingly it is yeasty and roasted malts with some hot alcohols
Taste: Bitterness on the tongue, roasted malts and some coffee
This is a very young beer (hit the shelves today) and should mellow out with some time. I bought a few extras to cellar, looking forward to trying it again after some aging.

22oz bottle (Release #1 10.5% ABV) from Epic
Appearance: Slightly hazy yellow with a medium sized white head, some lacing
Aroma: Peaches, slightly tart fruits, sweet malts and spices
Taste: Good carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Sweet malts, oak, peaches, finished slightly bitter and dry
The wine barrels really shine in the finish of this beer. Crisp, clean and refreshing, very nice. The alcohols are very well hidden.

Courtesy of douglas88. Pours hazy nearly copper with brown hues creating a pretty full opacity and supporting a light tan head. The aroma is plenty of smokiness creating a band-aid sense and then Belgian yeast notes, sweet fruity apricots and smooth smoke dried pork at the end of the draw. The taste is smooth bold rubber smoke notes heading into a pleasing level of dried smoked bacon, Belgian yeastiness, apricot, brown sugar and more smooth dry bacony smoke at the end. Nice.

Courtesy of douglas88. Pours opaque pale gold with nice white head. The aroma is sweet with malts, grains, some banana, a bit of cherry and a mild wheated malt note. The taste is pretty rich with soft smooth yeasty spices, more wheat like spices (?), a drying note, mild sweet banana and cherry flavored bubble gum. It ends with a pleasing soft palate.

Courtesy of douglas88. Bomber pours hazy gold with white head and spotty lacing. The aroma is yeasty, smooth hop spices and faint sweet banana. The taste begins with a bit of punchy yeasty spices and mild graininess and then picks up notes of sweet banana. It gets mildly creamy from time to time. Pretty tasty.

Courtesy of douglas88. Bomber pours copper with off white head. The aroma is a mix of grapefruit, spicy hops, malts and faint caramel. Nice. The taste is bitter with grapefruit and spicy hops and then moving toward mild malt sweetness. The hops stay pretty bitter into the finish with little in the way of late addition to the boil flavor type hoppiness. Nice bitter hoppy brew.
