On tap at Île Sauvage. Pours black with a beige head. Oatmeal bread and brown sugar on the nose. Flavour has chewy oatmeal, a bit bready, some brown sugar. Pretty solid oatmeal stout, though I'd like more roast.

On tap at Île Sauvage. Pours murky pale yellow with a white head. Gooseberries and tropical fruit on the nose. Flavour has a piney, citric hop character, some NZ tang, wheaty malts. Not bad, decent hopping.

Appearance is murky and dull. Not great. Thick head. That nose...lots of cedar. Wood at first, then boughs. The palate is fruity, more cedar, decent bitterness. A bit too much carbonation for the style, and the malt base could use some complexity. But the cedar is why we're here, and the use of it is restrained, lending nuance to the base beer rather than clubbing you over the head. Pretty good - I feel like a stronger base (more like English Strong Ale, 7-8%) would provide a better backdrop for something like cedar, too.

473mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of oats, some cocoa nibs, and a touch of roast. Flavour is dry, with oats, light cocoa nibs, gentle roast, and some earthy breadiness. Fairly light and dry but pleasant.

355mL can. Pours a murky mahagony with a beige head. Has some muted berries and a very dull yeast thing going on. Flavour has plenty of red berries, some balsamic. Pretty light on the acidity. Pretty poor Flanders red.

473 ml can. Pours a pale orange/copper with light head that settles quickly. Aromas of lemons, tonka bean, red berry and wheat. Flavors of wood, wheat, tonka beans and a hard to describe red berry vibe (which I guess is coming from the cherries.) Odd, but interesting, and the tonka beans seam to add body.

Poured from 473mL can. Very dark brown with small beige head. Sasparilla, cardamom, light bitter roast. Clashes a bit, but inoffensive. I enjoy the sasparilla quality in this, would just like the bitterness to tone down a touch and add some more body. Above average.
