This is a fairly generic amber, one that lacks sufficient hop balance. I'm sure it's intended as a starter beer, but to me hops are a critical element of being sessionable. Sweet and sticky is not sessionable at all. So this was not my favourite.

On tap at Bad Dog, pours a cloudy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has a massive diacetyl character, with little else. Flavour is less offensive, with lots of crisp apple acidity, some diacetyl, and biscuity malt. This blend didn't go well.

On tap at Mad Dog, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out some stone fruits, piney hops, and a touch of dankness. Flavour reveals a dry, dank, piney hop character upfront, and a crisp biscuity malt base. Fairly bright and biting. Not bad.

On tap at Bad Dog, pours a cloudy, dull golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out bitter piney hops upfront, with a dry biscuity malt base. Flavour is rather earthy and vegetal in the hop department, with some resins, and bready malt. Dry, bitter and vegetal. It's alright.

On tap at Bad Dog, pours a deep dark reddish brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bitter cocoa powder and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with dry cocoa and earthy notes. Biting but rather unpleasantly bitter. Burnt toast on the finish. Not pleasant.

On tap at Mad Dog, pours a clear copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma is very malty, with bready malt, toasted caramel and some cardboard. Flavour is dry, with bready malt, a hint of caramel and old hops. Old red indeed - it's not very fresh and lively, but not too bad.
