On gravity at the Royal Oak, Bath 25/02/10. Middling brown in colour, with a decent, off-white head. Nutty, sweetish aroma, with a touch of Maxwell House and powdered chocolate. Hazelnuts dominated the flavour, with sweet coffee and chocolate in the background and a decent, dry finish. Unusual and drinkable.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with a dense, nitro-style, cream head; grainy aroma; watery body with sweet, vaguely floral flavours; and a dry biscuity finish. Rather unimpressed by this.

Cask, handpump at The Bell, Banbury, Oxon 18-01-10 Pours warm gold with white head, excellent nick. Aroma was a touch floral as the description suggests. In the mouth this was clean, crisp, and with a slight nutty edge a good hoppy bite and with some caramel leaching through. Most enjoyable, its a very nice beer. A6 A5 F7 P4 Ov13 3.5

Bottle 50 cl. Pours deep golden with a slight haze and a small and lacing off-white head. Some citrusy hops in the nose. Medium body, once again with an unpleasant and astringent chemical tang. Crude bitterness. APA my ass. 230110

Cask at The New Oxford, Manchester. A nut-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has strong notes of caramel as well as medium notes of malt and light notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt as well as light notes of chocolate, and hints of coffee, leading to a dry bitter coffeeish finish.

Cask at the Cask Pub & Kitchen, London on 18th December 2009. Pale with whitish thin head. Nutmeg spice, flavour of mince pies and generally Belgian-leaning spice notes along with fruit aroma (I got berry fruit) and a smooth but engaging texture. Enjoyable pint.
