Cask at the Three Mariners, Hythe, Kent. Dark straw with a thin white head leaving some lacing; citrus and grainy aroma; thinly bodied with some watery fruit; and a pleasing bitterness. Rather disappointing overall.

On gravity at Reading Beer Festival, 01/05/09. Dark brown with some reddish undertones and a slight, off-white head. Roasted malts, a savoury edge and a touch of bitterness in the finish. Not the best mild out there.

Cask at The Harp, London. Golden ale with a smallish head. Fruity, hoppy and crisp. Quite ordinary really, too many beers similar to this in England currently.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag ONails, Bristol 25/04/09. Golden in colour with next to no head. Sweetish malt aroma with some hay and grassy hops. Flavour was much the same, leading to a decent bitter finish. A solid effort by Saltaire.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag ONails, Bristol 22/04/09. Black with a decent, off-white head. Big, dark chocolate aroma, with some roastiness and dried fruit. Flavour was similarly chocolately, with some sweetness before a decent enough bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Cask handpull at The Market Porter. I got the last half out of the barrel, so a bit hard to say. Hazy old gold, lasting thick cream. Quite heavy on the rye, good woody taste. No condition. OK, should be quite interesting when in good nick.

Cask handpull at The Market Porter. Light russet colour, lasting beige head. Good tasting ESB. Lovely fruity malt, good mouthfeel. Rather good. A little sweet maybe, but nice enough. Actually this is excellent. I arrived feeling a little jaded, but this got my mouth up and dancing. Some hop on end, but not aggressive.
