Description
Crafting mixed culture ale in the beautiful Pacific Northwest
Founded by partners in life and work, Charles Porter and Brenda Crow, Little Beast is a family brewery with a passion for making great beer and sharing it with others.

We craft wild, wood-aged and blended beer naturally with diverse cultures, including Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, and wild flora. By harnessing the little beasts that ferment our beer, we capture their untamed beauty and produce farmhouse beers that are diverse in flavor and rare in character.

Admin Note: Beer Garden/Tap Room in Portland, production in Clakamas, OR.

Can from Tavour. Pours translucent orange gold with a moderate white head. Aroma of cinnamon - reminds of both cinnamon bun and baked apple. Approaching full bodied. Flavor is very cinnamon. Not dry, but not sticky. Rice is discernable. Strange but interesting.

16 oz. can, pours black with a medium beige head. Nose is hearty, with lots of dry cocoa, earthy coffee, and toasted malt. Flavour is dry and hearty, with soft, dry cocoa, toasted malt, and dry crusty bread. Dry, hearty and smooth. Solid stuff.

Bottle share at the Bobolink. Hazy amber body, little to no head. Aroma is both coconut and cherries. More of the cherries and coconut in the taste along with a good bit of pucker. Really well done.

Semi-hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thick, three to four centimetre tall off-white head that takes a long time to fade, but looks very nice on top. Aroma of beautiful oak and wood foeders with a lot of complexity from the yeast, spontaneous fermentation and especially the floral notes. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong floral, oaky, cedar-y and perfumey qualities show nicely here with a ton of the complex yeasts and even some fruity notes like apricots, plums and pears with a dash of spice towards the end, but the funky bretty and spontaneously fermented yeasts make this very nice and complex. Aftertaste is very rich with flavours that seemingly don't stop that show a bunch of flowers, grass, oak, cedar and very yeastie dry yeast complexities with a slight sour bite and a good subdued sweetness that shows fructose more than anything else. Overall, a very nice beer that shows well throughout that brings out the dry and herbal notes with a cedar and oaky finish, but the yeast and funkiness shines throughout that leaves a ton of complexity, but still very balanced and enjoyable - nice and definitely worth trying to find if you can grab it, even if that means up here in Alaska! I sampled this caged and corked 37,5 cL bottle, purchased from Brown Jug in Fairbanks, Alaska on 24-June-2021 for US$9,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Seward, Alaska on the day before my birthday - 29-June-2021.

On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a clear dull blonde with a small white head. Aroma has a sweaty, gently dank, and earthy hop character. Flavour has a kind of dull hop character, with some sweaty, gently dank hops, and crisp bready malt. Not the most vibrant hops—pretty sweaty and dull hop character. Okay.

Hazy and pale, with a thick head. Big fruity hop aroma, lots of bright stone fruits, happy citrus, maybe a bit of tropical. There's just enough malt, but it seems fairly lean at first. Decent bitterness. Lots of citrusy, juicy character. Again, these are bright and appetizing hops.

Can. Golden and bright. On the nose, kind of earthy and catty. On the palate, similar. Lots of bright biscuity malts, though. Those malts help to balance the hops - even the citra isn't overwhelming. Well constructed, though if you're going to go old school maybe gimme some ctz or something.

375 c&c from the Stevens Creek Total Wine in San Jose, CA. Pours clear, bright gold with a transient white head. Aroma of chamomile, and light malt. Tart it is. Med body or so. Flavor is chamomile with light malt in support. Lactobacillus seems the flavor - definitely not Brett. Fairly dry. Lightly tart/bitter. Touch of hop spice. Exquisite.
