Description
Crafting mixed culture ale in the beautiful Pacific Northwest
Founded by partners in life and work, Charles Porter and Brenda Crow, Little Beast is a family brewery with a passion for making great beer and sharing it with others.
We craft wild, wood-aged and blended beer naturally with diverse cultures, including Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, and wild flora. By harnessing the little beasts that ferment our beer, we capture their untamed beauty and produce farmhouse beers that are diverse in flavor and rare in character.
Admin Note: Beer Garden/Tap Room in Portland, production in Clakamas, OR.

Hazy, pale. Thin head. On the nose, this is fairly bretty with a gooseberry, wood and baked apples on the nose. On the palate, it's fairly sweet, like brett c notes, with a little bit of wood in the finish. The alcohol starts to get prominent in the finish.

On tap at the Loyal Legion, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out candied sugar, toasted bready and brown sugar. Flavour is along the same lines, with candied sugar, brown sugar, and bready malt. Nice use of the Belgian yeast. Sweet and candied. Solid.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is unusual, with brett yeast, some floral notes, and an odd vanilla character. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of wild yeast, and a hint of floral dry hopping. Lots of wild yeast, with a floral finish. Very nice.

Bottle - Bandaid and strawberry. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Strawberry and a touch of bandaid. Lots of berry but too many plastic notes that just ruin it for me.

Hazy, reddish-amber. Not much head. This has a lot of band-aidy phenols, and if you get underneath of that you will find the strawberries. On the palate, there is a fair bit of sweet strawberry, a decent tartness. The phenols are downplayed on the palate. So in that sense, it's not as bad as I expected from the aroma.
