Description
Carlsberg’s brewery in Valby, Copenhagen was founded by JC Jacobsen on 10th November 1847.

In 1970, Carlsberg merged with the other leading Danish brewery, Tuborg. Carlsberg Danmark became a fully owned subsidiary of the Carlsberg Group in 2000 and merged with Coca-Cola Tapperierne Danmark in 2001.

Carlsberg has also owned the Wiibroe brewery in North Zealand since 1964 and began brewing Wiibroe beer in 1998.

Carlsberg Danmark is the country’s leading producer and supplier of beer and soft drinks. Carlsberg, Tuborg and Coca-Cola are among the strongest brands in Denmark, giving Carlsberg a 63% share of the beer market and 50% of the soft drinks market.
Address is office only. Production site address: Vestre Ringvej 111, 7000 Fredericia.

Carlsberg Danmark is also enjoying great success in the fast developing speciality beer market. Through the Semper Ardens series, launched in 1999, the Jacobsen Brewhouse, which opened in 2005, and the Kongens Bryghus series, launched in 2007, it has gained a leading position in the sector.

At the end of 2008, Carlsberg Danmark moved all production from its Valby site in Copenhagen to the Carlsberg brewery in Fredericia, thus leaving the industrial Valby site open for a town development project.

Draft @ Elysee Montmartre for Indochine Christmas gig. I think I should be proud of myself for avoiding this the entire time I've been on this site. Here it was the only option at 9 euros a pint. Not as flavourless as I recall, an appealing sweetness here but in an industrial, soulless way. Got the impression this was close to alcohol-free after finishing the pint.

Blik gekregen van Roelzie, thuis geprobeerd. Het is een helder goudgeel bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een aroma van mout, bloemen en hop. De smaak is vol kruidig en alcohol achtig.

2002: A strong lager with an aquired taste. Not bad! I've had this one mainly from can or fresh bottles in Denmark, thus avoiding the skunkiness our American friends report of. Rerate German brewed version, (adhering to the Reinheitsgebot), ABV 7,5%: The extra 0,3% alcohol certainly doesn't bring anything good to the beer. 7,2% is plenty for a beer with a body as light as this. Stick to the Danish original!

From 11.2 ounce bottle purchased as part of a mixed 6 pack at Clifton Market, Cincinnati, Ohio, tasted on November 16, 2024. Predominantly skunky nose (greem bottle), medium gold color, overbearing sweet but unmpleasant taste that's like a malt liquor on steriods. I couldn't finish it.
