Pours crystal clear golden with a medium sized off-white head, light lacing. Floral hops, lemon, bisquity, spicy hops in the finish.

500 ml can poured into a tall, proper lager glass. Quite pale gold with a high, tight head. Crystal clear. Bright pick-me-up of noble hops. Lemon and mandarin, herbal, smells like Spring. Light biscuity malt. Malt is light but has a sweet, biscuity character reminiscent of a Helles. Hops are lovely. Quite gentle, but a nice lemon and apple character. Light and clean, with a moderate or more bitterness level. A good brew to welcome the Spring in Kyoto.

Can, bb 9/26. Gold, a cm of white head doesn't last. Vague, sweet malty aroma. A bit of body with sweet, somewhat tired pale malt. Moderate apple and earthy flavours as the bitterness creeps up a little.

Can, bb 7/26. Gold with a half inch white head. Aroma of bread, biscuit, flowers, spices. Maybe a little stone fruit. A little fruitier in the taste, but nothing that distracts. Quite rich with crusty bread before firm floral spicy bitterness comes in towards the end. Another sign that big Japanese brewers are getting bolder. Pretty good.

Bottle from local Home Bargains store, drank at home. [Actually brewed by Brand Direct at 4.8% in the Netherlands !] Pours golden yellow with a small transient frothy off-white head. There’s malts and syrup in the aroma. In the mouth it quite sharp with metallic undertones. Flavour is mainly corn and rice with hints of lucozade and a bitter sickly dry finish. This is a typical industrial macro beer – yuck !
