Draft 10 oz pour at Latona Pub. It appears they have changed the name of this beer to 2xIPA. Cue admin action here. Pours a bright orange color with a thin oily head. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bourbon barrel aged IPA before, and honestly, my mind is partially blown here. The bourbon comes through much stronger. Pure bourbon and light orange fruit aroma. Full body, sweet flavor, bourbon dominated. Grassy hop background. Gotta give bonus points for taking an IPA with a hop profile to go the distance, and aging it on bourbon barrel. Oak comes through. Bold beer, and I think the risk was well worth it. I enjoyed the hell out of this.

On tap at North Sound, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Nose brings out loads of bourbon, some vanilla and some resinous hops buried underneath. Flavour is surprisingly balanced and cohesive for a barrel aged IIPA, with bourbon, light vanilla and resinous hops. Not usually a fan of barrel aging IPAs, but this one pulls it off very well. Complex, cohesive and not too boozy. Very nice.

On tap at North Sound, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Nose brings out a bit of diacetyl unfortunately, with piney floral hops. Flavour is thankfully better, with notes of piney and floral hops that coat the palate. Very easy to drink and not too abrasive. Good stuff.

On tap at North Sound, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Nose brings out loads of floral hops, some citrus zest and a biscuity malt backbone. Flavour is nearly identical, with soapy floral hops, citrus, perfume, and a biscuity malt backbone. Not overly thrilling nor to my taste, but competently brewed. Decent.
