At Gigantic we only do two things: make the best damn IPA in Portland, Oregon and produce seasonal, exciting, flavorful beers, most of which will be brewed only once. Our goal is simultaneously to create new interpretations of classic styles and to ignore those same style guidelines completely and brew whatever our creative natures produce.

Can. Very cool design. Pours a ruby hue with a small white head. A big sweet boozy nose, lots of malt. Caramel malts, toffee, cherries, light pine hops. Smooth. Lovely.

Notes from October 2012 Bottle from LetsPour. Sweaty bottle, rounded pint glass. Admiring the depraved personas of the ratebeer chatroom while trying to plug in reviews on an otherwise ordinary weekend afternoon. Clouded orange amber, brew. tall, but thin whitewash head. Mild citrus rind; juicy. Leafy green. Faintly buttery. Toasty grain. Taste is toasty grain upfront, followed by very sharp, bittersweet citrus/coriander. Beyond astringent, a wincing, sharp pith. So I corked the bottle & came back to it a few hours later. ... Mellowed, but still lingering. Lots of juicy fruit & bitter lettuce. Not traditionally bitter, but just coming from a different direction. Crispy carbonation. Body is a little itchy. Average alcohol. Finish is dry grain & lingering foliage. Kilned over Welsh Coal - Yeah, totally picked that out. :P

Notes from November 2012 Sweaty bottle from LetsPour.com. Been spinning for a solid month now & haven't landed on a coupon. Throw me a bone LetsPour! Ommegang Chalice. Weak half inch of fleeting tan head. A greasy, dark brown on black color. Smells of burnt vanilla wafer cookies. Foliage. Coffee with a whole lot of brown sugar. Tastes of charred marshmallows & toast. Gritty/earthy dark chocolate, bitter plant parts, & ugly yeasties. Small, scotch-like note. Somehow it all remains mellow. Initial soft/silky texture turns dry & gritty once the prickly carbonation & crackery malt kick in. Medium light body. Lightly acidic. Tastes like a dirty brown ale to me. /shrugs

The Mexican chocolate is great in nose and palate but the chilis are overpowering and ruin this.

Tap at Kalahana as Shigan Kogen 20th Anniversary. Dark brown with lace, quite muddy. Big spicy nose, cinnamon, nutmeg, caramel, wood, resins. Light but irch and full malt, caramel, spice, resins. Smooth, almost flat but not quite. Nice one with not too much spice.
