Fine-looking bottle. Dark reddish brown with a beige head. Vinous aroma with berries, caramel and young oak. Syrupy mouthfeel. Sweet with oaky fortified wine, chocolate, dark fruits, cola. Some sweetshop spices in a finish that just hints at bitterness. Interesting beer that’s as much like an old ale than it is a BSA. [3.4] Small bottle that’s nearly as pretty as the big one. Brown with a beige head that fades to a coat. Aroma: Berries, dried fruit, bread, Port, oak. Sweet w cola, dark fruit; vinous with a bit of oak at the end. Tasty, but not very lively feeling in the mouth. Solid, interesting beer that it’s good to see in Australia again.

Tasting at Papsø
Muddy dark brown color; big head. The aroma is strange, but not for this bad: dust, apricots and apricot jam, caramel. Sweet flavor, malt, without depth, and good caramel; correct bitterness. Peculiar but good Strong Belgian Ale, sweet.
