6oz pour at Max's pours a clear amber with a ring of white head. Nose has apples and dried cherries and some candy and raisin. Flavor is sweet with malt and apple and raisin. A little flat. Finishes mostly dry, decent carb.

The aromas are roast, dark malt, molasses and barest hint of mint. Flavors are very similar to nose, on the sweet side and thankfully with mint in the background along with the bourbon. Nice easy-going stout that's fairly well-balanced. Sure don't pick up the booze.

Wegmans can. Orange, like the can, clear, beige head, lots of carbonation on the sides of the glass. caramel, brown leaf, light floral notes in the nose. Caramel, toast, brown leaf, light hint of fruitiness, light yeast. Nothing memorable in the slightest.

Black with a small foamy tan head. Sweet, a bit off, strong mint, chocolate and whiskey. Exceptionally long finish. Full bodied and slick.

It’s fine, but not really what I expected. VERY light on the mint, but still a respectable barrel aged stout.

Jet black with almost no head, just a light brown ring. Roast and some molasses notes. Molasses and light roast with a long sweet dark chocolate finish. Sticky molasses.

Pretty thinnish, but dark brown coloured body with only about 20 per cent opacity and a thickish, three centimetre tall light brown and deep tan head that fades very quickly and doesn't leave much up top at all. Aroma of ground ginger, earth, toffee, grain, light bread and yeast with a little bit of alcohol and pungency coming through and a noticeable amount of caster sugar and even some squash noticeable. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong ground ginger notes show at first with a light dose of allspice and canella, but the malts cover up the spices almost immediately but make this relatively simplistic and soft, somehow. Aftertaste shows a good deal of sweetness from the toffee and caramelised sugars with a noticeable amount of spices still on the edges, but this one goes down pretty easily and is quite complex for the alcohol and body here. Overall, a surprisingly nice and subdued beer that has a good deal of spices but isn't cloying and shows some nice and soft notes that make this good for the season. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Wegman's [grocery] in Alexandria, Virginia on 13-November-2021 for US$1,99 (as part of a mixed six pack) sampled in my hotel room here in Parsipanny, New Jersey on 17-December-2021.

Bottle from Busch's. Pours a clear chestnut brown to black with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Dark chocolate and light whiskey aromas with mint as it warms. A bit thin on the palate like most Guinness releases, but flavors work quite well. Mint, chocolate and lingering bourbon on the finish.

Pint pours a lightly hazy gold with some sudsy white head. Nose has C hops, savory herbs, soap. Flavor has some grist and soap and citrus and pine. Old school in every way. Dry and bitter finish.
