Undated can drunk 11/25/25, as pictured.
Oh yeah, that's real vanilla bean! And lots of it, very nicely extracted and expressed with a rich, fudgey porter behind it showing low roast.
Nice and chewy, not syrupy porter with no old school roast element. Vanilla beans are just gravy here...rich and well-done but not covering up the deep, fudgey maltiness. Soft, rich, but still properly attenuated and balanced.

On tap at HopCat Livonia. Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Sour, grainy aroma. Flavor is sour (lactic/acetic), wheat, apple/pear, with a drying finish. Decent.

16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 1/4/2018. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart/tangy blood orange, grapefruit, lemon, melon, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of blood orange, bready malts, and light-moderate citrus/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart/tangy blood orange, grapefruit, lemon, melon, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/citrus peel bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart/tangy blood orange, grapefruit, lemon, melon, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice robustness and balance of blood orange, bready malts, and light-moderate citrus/earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitter/tartness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and fruit tang/tartness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/tangy/acidic mouthfeel that is good. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.1%. Overall this is a good fruit wheat. All around good robustness and balance of blood orange, bready malts, and light-moderate citrus/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/tart/drying finish. This would have benefited being a lower ABV. This feels too heavy to me, and the malts start to overshadow the fruit presence. Still a nicely enjoyable offering as it stands.

This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a dark amber/brown sort of color with a finger’s worth of fairly thick foaminess in the head. Died off at a decent pace, light lace.
The aroma had some roasted nuts, caramel/toffee malts and a dried sort of breadiness at the end.
The flavor was basically the same with a quick malty aftertaste and finish.
The feel was between a light and medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good brown ale worthy of having again.

This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a mostly dark brown color with a small eggshell white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Some light stringy lace.
The aroma had some milk chocolate, roasted malts, light toast and then dark chocolate. Ended with some sweet grains.
The flavor moderately leaned towards the sweet side. As it warmed, more balance came out through the sweet and the roast. Nice blend in the aftertaste rolling into the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionable to sipping sort of trait to it. Smooth sweetness sets sail along my tongue as it seems to just glide exactly the way I want an oatmeal stout to run along my tongue.
Overall, yes to this one! I wish I could get more of this now.
