Description
The story of Léonce d'Armentières is a very beautiful story ... After a few years of setting up the project, the micro-brewery finally opened in 2015, in Armentières, in the premises of ESAT Malécot (Etablissement et Work Help Service), thanks to the investment of the teams and its association Les Papillons Blancs de Lille.

Indeed, the Léonce is produced within a protected work establishment which supports the professional projects of people with intellectual disabilities. The recipe for Léonce beers was initially created by a Belgian brewer. They were brewed a few years in Belgium before ESAT invested in its own micro-brewery. Result: tasty beers, Belgian style, produced by passionate people who also grow in a motivating professional project thanks to their customers and partners.

This micro brewery, installed in the premises of ESAT, also allowed the teams to seize the opportunity to reconnect with another very old brewing tradition of the city of Armentières (Motte-Cordonnier): a new giant "Léonce”thus saw the light of day in September 2015, produced by the ESAT teams, in fact highlighting other talents from ESAT.

75cl bottle shared with Eric after burying Elliot our dalmatian. Pours a misty gold, medium sized white head. Soothing saison profile, nicely balanced with an appealing yeasty presence without getting over sweet .. decent, sessionable.

75cl bottle Christmas Day 2024 in Eecke. Pours a misty blonde, good white head. Mild rhubarb nose. Flavour profile not hugely fruity but does bear pleasant rhubarb and hibiscus shades, blonde malt base with a confident bitterness. Ok.

330ml bottle from Gamm Vert near Steenvoorde I think. Pours gold with a light mist, no head remaining. Lightly sweet aroma. Taste is clean, moderate to low carbonation, pleasant triple yeast, caramel notes, not massively complex but has an appealing sweet character.
