Description
Attic Brew Co. was borne out of years of beer consumption and small scale production. Oli and Sam met at university in Cardiff where their beer obsession began. Sam began brewing in his bedroom of their shared house and continued after graduating, moving back to Birmingham and setting up his home brewery in his attic.

In 2018, after they'd had the ridiculous idea to start a brewery, Oli left his job in London and moved to Birmingham. They took out a loan, rented a run down old industrial unit in Stirchley and bought a small brew kit that was older than they were. Several months of painting, building and, finally, brewing, allowed them to open the taproom doors on the 23rd November 2018.

Attic was greeted with an unbelievable show of support from local drinkers, who bought into their varied beer board and new take on the traditional local (editors note; we continue to be indebted to you all

Tap at the Victoria, Birmingham. Poured a clear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is banana yeast. The flavour is sweet banana, dry yeast, with a smooth, dry, yeasty acidic, cheesy, floral, perfume palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Really didn’t enjoy this. The beer was all over the place and it took 15 minutes to pour.

Very retro style bottle, just needs a foil cap to complete the 70s vibe. Clear deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, good fine carbonation. Sparkling indeed. Smooth malts, a little creamy sweetness. Good dose of darkish toffee. Spicy mid into some ripe fruits. Touch of brandy on the back end, pretty mellow. Finishes airy and warming. Decent barleywine, has some depth but lacks some maturity. Think this will age nicely.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Pours with a rosy pinkish hue, thin white head. Aroma of raspberry jam. Taste presents a distinctly jammy fruit character, with tart red berries and a sticky strawberry sweetness coming to the fore, very light sour edge. Quite flavoursome. Nice.
