2003 vintage, sampled draught at Stuffed Sandwich, Greater Los Angeles.
Dark brown with creamy head. Some vinous berries upo front. Sweet, buttery and very malty. Salty with loads of toffee. More of an English style barley wine, than an American hop monster variety. May I call for the substyle Utah Barley Wine ;-)

A decent APA, with hints of grapefruit peeking through the typical floral hops flavor. Decent malt balance. Nothing too exceptional, otherwise.

A watery porter with a dark red/brown body and a thin off-white head. Aroma was tame, and the flavor was by-the-numbers roasted and chocolate malts. Body was exceptionally thin.

Old score and notes. I judged this in the schwarzbier category at the GABF and I thought it was good enough for gold. I was outvoted, however, but yeah, it’s pretty tasty beer. I will update the notes and scores at such time as I can procure a bottle or pint for rating.
