Description
Pips Cider Ltd. is a small family business which began life in August 2010 in the small village of Dorstone in the Golden Valley in Herefordshire, England.
Our five acre (two hectares) cider orchard is 62 years old and consists of seven vintage varieties of sweet, bittersweet, and bittersharp apples, including Reine des Hatives, Nehou, Bulmers Norman, Brakewells seedling, Michelin, Reine des Pommes, and Dabinet. We do not use any sprays or pesticides and the orchard is managed using methods similar to those of fully organic certified producers in relation to animal grazing policies. We are trying very hard to protect our orchard and ensure it grows apples for many more years.
Up to 2009 we delivered our cider apples to many of the local cider producers, but then we decided to make our own traditional craft cider based on the original cider making methods. In August 2010 Pips Cider Limited was born.
Our apples are picked, then milled and pressed to obtain the fresh apple juice. This juice is fermented in high quality food grade containers. Once the fermentation process is complete the juice is racked and allowed to mature. It can then be bottled and delivered to our customers.

330ml bottle @ Llandrindod Wells Beer & Food Festival 2014. Been meaning to pick up a Pips for a while now so was good to see Mr Pips here behind a table full of cider. Cracked this open at the festival so not as cold as I’d like. However, this was very nice indeed. Lightly sparkling and refreshing with slight vanilla, subtle sweet fruitiness and soft massaging tannins on the finish. Looking forward to the other two now!

Bottle from Oakchurch, Staunton on Wye, Herefordshire consumed at home Thursday 8th July 2012 Like the other two ciders from Pips this pours the colour of Irn Bru® real rusty orange. The carbonation didn’t seem quite as pronounced as the sweet, but it was nice, dry and a little furry. Another good blended cider nice bittersweet balance with the dryness coming through gradually and then building. I like the appleyness, think there is a little nutty Egremont Russet, its good. Bottle from the Bristol Cider Shop. Deep amber in colour with plenty of fizz. Light, sweetish apple juice aroma with a green herb edge. Plenty of honeyed apple fruit flavours with a medium dry finish with plenty of after taste. Not particularly dry, but pleasant drinking.

Bottle that I picked up from either Oakchurch or The Hop Pocket, Herefordshire, trying to remember which place think it was the latter. 28.11.10 consumed 03.12.10 Pours rusty gold in colour actually it looks a little like Irn Bru. The aroma is of aged wet wood, taste is earthy, rustic & woody but bloody gorgeous. Soft in the mouth, sweetened apples, juicy but a little furry around the gums. It’s a bit like a warming appley jelly, I really like this marvellous stuff. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9
