Description
Over 30 varieties of hops are available in the UK, Maltsters are falling over themselves to be innovative in their treatment of barley, micro-breweries are seeing a resurgence. All this makes brewing truly an art form. So with the muse upon us we thought we would get creative and start doing this for ourselves. We’ve set up a micro-brewery at Brogdale Farm in Faversham in Kent. We live near-bye and it’s great for making deliveries across Kent’s North Downs. We’re hoping our beers will be enjoyed by people who have already discovered the delights of crafted beer and we want to cheer-on those new ale drinkers who want to join in with the ale revolution going on in the UK looking for something fresh and modern to drink. If what you’re looking for is “rock-bottom-cheap” and cold enough to freeze your tonsils this may be the wrong place for you, if you want taste and flavour and a genuinely delicious experience then welcome to Mad Cat Brewery and the craft beer revolution.

Bottle at home, thanks to Jason & Tracey, 03/11/19. Clear golden copper with a well presented off white head. Nose is fruit esters, grass, straw, dusty hop presence, airy malts. Taste comprises biscuit malt, crackers, straw, faint lemon rind, dried fruits, light citric drizzle, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a light flurry of bitterness. Fine for the style.

Gravicask at Spa Valley 9th Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Off-white head to a brown-reddish body, lacing rings down the glass. Malty-fruity smell. Nuts, chocolate and biscuit to the taste buds. Nicely roasted bittersweet finish. Likable. (Tunbridge Wells 18.10.2019).

Pours very clear blonde. Foam fades instantly. Smell is weak, very restrained hoppy notes. Bit heavy on the caramel, as far as something can actually be heavy, in a scent that is this mild. Taste is sharp, fleshy almost ( yet not smokey, nor fruity ) , but feels strangely… Thick ? Not in terms of high gravity though, just the absent of freshness, crispyness, without actually being a negative. Lower bitterness. Very mild carbonation that feels very arteficial ( starting relatively high, but than completely fading to zero before swalowing ) it's very interesting for sure. perhaps the strange element in here comes from the rakou hops, since those are new to me. Far to easy to drink. Bit strange on the carbonation, and after a few seconds, this beer looks like filtered apple juice, but hey, it's not bad at all.
