Draft at Malt House. Orange brown color, filtered. Lacy beige head. Creamy, doughy aroma. Very mellow and well done, certainly reminiscent of Canadian Maple beers, though with a lighter malt bill, which doesn’t weigh the maple down in stick dark malt sweetness. Mild hop balance, but mostly a refreshing malt centered beer. Quite nice.

This beer pours a clear orange color with a medium fluffy off-white head that evaporates slowly. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops and sweet malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character with notes of pine and caramel malt. The finish is resiny hops with a short pine aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 oz. loose bottle, $1.50 @ Woodman’s. Big hop aroma right under the cap. Plenty of American power hops in the nose after pouring, too. Darker amber color than most IPAs. Very tiny particles in the body being tossed about by rising bubbles. A spongy white head with some cling. Taste is all about dry hopping, with unmistakable tang of dried hop cones. I guess that’s a bit one-dimensional and I can see why this doesn’t draw big ratings. But I could guess what I would get here, and in that I was not disappointed.

Bottle from Festival Foods. Pours a hazy orange-gold color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, sweet spices and malt. Light body with flavors of bready malt, coriander, citrus and mild hops. The finish is fruity with a sweetly spiced aftertaste. Decent beer overall.

Sample at Bodega Brew Pub in La Crosse. This brew is brown with garnet highlights and a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and dark fruit. Medium body with flavors of coffee, toasted malt and black cherry. The finish is roasty with a short chocolatey malt aftertaste. Decent Porter overall.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Toffee brown color. Thin, steady beige head. Smooth malty aroma, mild chocolate tones. Sweet, some thin sugary malt residues. Not really that great, lack a little depth and complexity. Some warm alcohol and toffee notes. Mediocre.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is almsot nothing. Some malt and grain i guess. Flavor is a little better. Starts out with a dull malt then a bit of citrus hits you. Very light but easy to drink.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a hazy gold with a near white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was tart from the cranberries with a bit of underlying sweet grain and oak. Flavor had some funk but was mainly tart from the cranberries with and a bit of oak to round it off nicely.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a deep caramel brown with a near white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a strong maple note with underlying sweet grain and a hint of dark fruits. Flavor was similar with sweet grains in the start quickly over taken by the maple syrup and a bit of a hint of dark berries.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured black with a medium brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a strong bourbon note that overwhelmed the roasted malt and oats. Flavor was a bit more balanced with the roasted malts and oat in the start and the bourbon growing toward the finish.
