Growler pours a clear amber with minute long tan head that shrunk to a persistent ring. The aroma has roastiness, earthiness and a very mild level of dark chocolate. The taste starts with a creamy overture of sweetness and a modest vague hop bite that is enhanced by an upwelling of carbonation. From midway and to the finish the chocolate makes an appearance and then gets swallowed up by a resurgence of roastiness. The chocolate seemed to reside mostly in the realm of just noticeable. I’d like to try it with something a bit more than that.

Growler shared by goldtwins - having had the base beer for this a few weeks ago, I can say that the espresso doesn’t really help this beer - the aroma is kind of taken over by the coffee, and it smells either burnt or of poor quality - the bitterness is amplified in the flavor by the presence of the coffee as well, and it adds a charred character - the smooth vanilla and roasted nuts from the original beer come through, but not until the finish - most of the beer just tastes like burnt coffee - I love coffee beer, but apparently they are hard to get right.

Funky-looking growler shared by goldtwins - hazy dark copper - sudsy lace - earthy hop, grapefruit, and pine in the nose at first, followed by a complex mixture of wildflowers and dried herbs - full-bodied - the flavor is of a straightforward, tasty, dry ipa up front - this is followed by an explosion of added complexities - tangerine, rosemary, lavender, rosewater - a vast array of hard to place spices - a lot of floral character that works really well with the dry, bitter hops - ends warming - this is fantastic.

My 100th IPA rating! Draft at Redlight Redlight. Nose explodes with piney grapefruit hops, maybe a bit floral too. Copper color, with a good sized bubbly head, and good lacing. Flavor is dominated by the tingling resiny hops leading to a long bitter finish. Clean bready malts provide a fresh touch of sweet to round it off.

Growler with much thanks to an unidentified source (who surely knows who he is.) Dark as the Black Road itself, this has a slowly forming dark tan head. Aromas are weak at first...a bit of smokey peat and a little hot pepper are all that are there. As it warms, the cocoa and vanilla start to come out of the shadows and challenge the others for control. Flavor is darn good... and I mean darn good. It is heavy chocolate maltiness with almost the thickness and consistency of chocolate milk. Roasted malt is all over the place and then, gently pricking the tastebuds comes a little bit of pepper that comes and goes... at times stronger at times weaker. According to my sources this batch doesn’t have the most pronounced hotness, and I do wish it came through a little more. Still... I’m considering moving to Tampa to be closer to the holy fountain.

Pours copper with gold edges and off white head. The aroma is citrus sweet from hops to go along with solid malt sweet enhanced floral and lavender note goodness. I was expecting the aroma to be a load of perfumy flowers but it achieves a nice balance. The taste starts with smooth lavender moving into floral and then progressively sweeter with malts and citrus hop flavor. Cedar and citrus hop bitterness even out the sweetness into the finish leaving the palate somewhat refreshed and ready for more.

Had it on draft somewhere(?). Courtesy of the uber generous tpd975. Thanks man! Pours crazy hazy orange opaque with gold edges and lasting off white head. The aroma is yum with citrus notes coming from sweet orange juice, grapefruit and tangelo with a solid tropical fruitiness throughout the draw. The taste is both fundamentally solid and refreshing at the same time. I get nice rich orange juice from a combination of guava tropical fruitiness mixing with grapefruit and orange peel all sweetened up with a not so subtle malty sweetness. Toward the finish both the grapefruit hop bitterness and a layer of cedar coming to the surface make for a refreshing finish. The after taste seems to reveal both guava and citrus. Yum! This is an amazing Florida summer lawnmower brew. Most go for the thin watery stuff, I’ll go for more of this.
