Description
Steeped in the unique culture and history of Tampa, Florida, Cigar City Brewing began handcrafting award-winning beer in 2009. Cigar City Brewing’s ales and lagers bring to mind the sun and citrus for which Florida is known, while taking cues from the cigar industry upon which Tampa was built. Behind all of Cigar City Brewing’s liquid is the philosophy that quality is achieved by giving first rate ingredients to first rate people in a space where they are free to pursue their passion.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 07/06/2026.
Deep mahogany brown topped with a light khaki cap that thins to the edge and a swirl.
Nose is chocolate, nutty, umami, fruit cake mix, raisins.
Taste comprises fruit loaf, toffee, raisins, dates, figs, booze tones.
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, drying close with a kiss of alcohol.
Tidy sipper for the age.

A classical Belgian beer coming from a fair brewery, a right one refreshing style, despite of a cold weather for the season, rather mineral and dry, side of wheat, spicy, coriander, orange peel, 18.07.20, at Bern

On tap at Cigar City, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with big mezcal barrels, big roast, some vanillin, and light sugars. Flavour exquisitely showcases the mezcal barrels, with deep robust roasted malt providing a foundation, a remarkably mezcal expression, and some dark sugars. Exquisite malts and impeccable barrel character. Damn.

On nitro tap at Cigar City, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma has some spicy rye, earthy bready malt, and a touch of whiskey. Flavour is surprisingly mild, with subtle earthy rye, toasted malt, and some oaky whiskey barrels. Very soft palate; basically the beer just provides a vessel for the nice barrel character. Not sure nitrogenation is the optimal way to serve this, but this is definitely great.

On tap at Cigar City, pours a dirty dark brown / black with almost no head—doesn’t look the best. Nose is full of caramel and butterscotch, with base Huna way in the background. Flavour is very caramely, quite syrupy, which dominates this, but then the chilis do show an appearance. This is just too sweet and syrupy for me. I guess they did it well for what it is, but doesn’t work for me.

On tap at Cigar City, pours jet black with a small brown bead. Aroma is full of rich hazelnut, cocoa, chili peppers, and deep roasted malt. Flavour is wonderfully rich and yet not brutal, with intense hazelnut, huge dark sugars, roast, just enough chili, and big dark chocolate. Nice incorporation of the hazelnut without drowning out base Huna. Excellent.

On tap at Cigar City, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of toasted malt, deep dry earthy malt, and a hint of smoke. Flavour is rich, with deep roasted malt, nice earthiness, and gentle smoke. Great malt depth here, whereas the smoke is only a minor complement. Great robust porter.

On tap at Cigar City, pours a clear blonde with a tiny white head. Aroma has bright tangy, citrusy hops, pine, and some resins. Flavour is clean and robust, with dank, piney hops, some citrus tang, resinous oils, and just enough biscuity malt to back. As good as any killer brewery on the west coast would nail this style. Excellent.

On tap at Cigar City, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has some nice piney hop expression, but also the Tangier ruins things a bit with that stale cardboard character. Flavour somehow works, with a nice bitter piney hop character, a sort of concrete/cardboard character that doesn’t lose me, and a thin biscuity malt base. Maybe the best Tangier beer I’ve had. Excellent.

On tap at Cigar City, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out bright pine, tropical fruits, melon, and some dankness even. Flavour is assertively hopped and bitter for a 4% session IPA, with lots of piney hops, dankness, big citrus bitterness, and a crisp biscuity malt backbone. This is really nicely done.
