Filosofie

7/I/17 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 31/VIII/17 (2017-29)

Note: aged for 1 year in my cellar, just never got around to trying it.
Clear dark purple brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: overripe banana, bit spicy, rotting fruit, dried fruits, star anise, some liquorish. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: cinnamon, overripe banana, caramel, bit yeasty, soft bitterness, cocoa powder, cloves. Aftertaste: sourish, dried fruits, ripe banana, bitter hops, pretty roasted finish with some more spices.

Bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge. Mid-brown, cloudy and quite flat. Caramel, chocolate, marshmallow, yeasty notes. Some fresh toast and hazelnuts. Simple sweet taste with fudge, more caramel and more yeast. The sweetness goes unchecked until a slight hop bitterness in the finish, but it stays the right side of cloying. Honey, brandy and earthy notes in the aftertaste. Sticky body, and the carbonation stays soft. A little too soft for my liking. Not a bad drop by any definition, but it falls short of the best quads.

Tight creamy beige head stayed well on a finely effervescent near black body. Dark fruit, sweet, malt & brown sugar aroma. Full bodied, creamy, thick, smooth & a slight tingle on the back. Malty, brown sugar, treacle & quite sweet to the fore followed by cloves, dark fruits, berries, marmalade - boozy,

Pours hazy dark brown with big frothy beige head. The aroma contains caramel, bread, spices, coffee, licorice and some clove. It tastes medium sweet and medium bitter with a spicy, almost Stout-like finish. Medium body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation. Decent winter beer, but a bit off-balance.

Zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is zoet en krachtig met iets van anijs, drop en zoethout. Komt iets te licht over voor een quadrupel.

Pours rather clear, dark amber. Good white head. Smell is rich, aromatic ambermalts, not really sweet, but has got a mild bitter touch to it ( in a far away distance ) Taste is more clearly bitter. Crispy ambermalt, very aromaticly so ( and I like this taste a lot , actually ). Nice intensity. perhaps a bit simple, but a very nice beer, especially for a random amber 6 % beer. Nice one ! carbonation is a bit to high for me, but the mouthfeel is nice enough to cover that problem.

330ml bottle [Westflandern-Ostwestfalen import by bartlebier - dank je wel!]. Minimally cloudy, copper colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Weak, fruity aroma, hints of rose hip and hibiscus, minimally toasty, bready, malty basis. Taste is initially dry, minimally floral fruity, hints of hibiscus and rose hip, later moderately sweet and intensely fruity, notes of cherry, slightly artificial hints of ’Haribo Happy Cherries’.
