Bottle from Belgoklubben. Brown color with off white head. Aroma of raisin, malt, yeast, wood and spices. Taste is sweetish with dried fruit, yeast, light chooclate. Not bad but nothing I’ll get back to. A little bit mellow and lacks a bit complexity for the style.

Bottle at the Brewery Tap, Saturday, 18th June 2016 on a wet and miserable day. But Belgium beat Rep of Ireland 3-0 in the football. Pours dark chestnut in colour with a slim off white head. Loz gets liquorice, I get sweet candy sugar and a strident malty backbone. Spicy and also a little garden herb element here, perhaps a touch of mint and then there is more spice with a touch of clove which provides a slight numb tingle. This beer has a little oomph this is a decent beer, enjoyed this. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle at the Brewery Tap, Saturday, 18th June 2016 on a wet and miserable day. But Belgium beat Rep of Ireland 3-0 in the football. Pours silvery gold with a slim white head, a little hazy. A spicy nose and the yeastiness with the spice again apparent in the mouth. Light fruitiness, quite sweet, pleasant beer but I was hoping for a bit more hoppiness. A6 A4 T6 P4 Ov13 3.3

Strong fruity nose, Hazy dark brown colour, small frothy tan head, mostly diminishing, a thin layer remains, light lacing. Fruity aroma raspberries, cherries, candy sugar, cinnamon, allspice, sweet fortified wine, later also cocoa. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, roasted malts, toffee, dark fruits. Aftertaste sweetbitter, roasted malts, spicy and chocolate notes. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. A real winterbeer, rich and well-balanced, surprisingly tasty (so why drinking it in May?)

Bottle. Pours unclear amber. Small to no white head. Smell is rotting leaves, metallic. Taste is rather bitter, vegetable, earthy, metallic. not too much good aspects, honestly. wattery mouthfeel, high carbo. Usually, my very low ratings really have somethign off, of a weird ingrediënt I just can’t stand, but here, there’s just the selection of tastes I don’t like, but are not unseen in beer. it might be brewed withoud flaws or bad ideas, but I just really don’t enjoy it.

House beer of the oldest pub in Bruges. Thick, frothy, egg-white head dissipating eventually; initially lightly hazy amberish peach blonde but completely ’muddy’ and ochre-ish with deposit. Aroma of toasted nuts, green banana, dried orange peel, white pepper, bread dough, minerals, peach, straw, dried apricot. Fruity onset, some banana, orange and pear but not overly estery, sharp carbonation (even a tad overcarbonated), supple caramelly and bready malt body, ’rooty’ and eventually yeasty finish, yeast bitterness along with soft earthy hop bitterness, medium long, but remaining primarily malty. Drinkable, but fairly uninspired and not quite technically perfect.
