Filosofie

Bottle from a Carrefour in Bruges. Pours clear yellow with a small, foamy, white head. The aroma contains hops, hay, straw, citrus, spices, malt, some banana & honey. It tastes medium fruity sweet and medium hoppy bitter, turning slightly cloying and ending sweet, with notes of banana. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. The promised hops are not really there, and there's something weird about the finish. Promising smell, disappointing taste.

At De Republiek, Bruges. Pours hazy yellow with a diminishing, foamy, white head. Flowery smell. The aroma contains citrus, yeast, hops, flowers, spices and wheat. It tastes light sour, light fruity sweet and light hoppy bitter, with a dry, citric, astringent finish. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. I like the flowery touch, and it’s a decent beer, but is it really adding something?

Pours hazy dark brown with a small, foamy, tan head. The aroma contains roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, herbs, yeast, some sugar and caramel. It tastes medium sweet and medium to light herbal, hoppy bitter, with a toasty finish. Only medium body, oily/slick texture, soft carbonation. Well-hidden alcohol. A beer that doesn’t really know where it’s going. A bit off-balance. Lacking some more strength in the palate.

Bottle from the bar, took it home ’cause I was getting annoyed by how slow and uninterested the service was this given day. Let it rest in the fridge for a day before opening, yet this did not keep the beer from pouring very hazy, darker blonde. Regular size head with great stability. Smell is yeasty, bit of candy-like fruity sugary notes ( hidden ) Taste is mildly bitter. Next to that, I get loads of yeast , and overripe, as well as boiled, vegetables. corny, not fresh at all. Tastes very, very stale, yet not oxidised. Pretty bad...
